Hi folks,

Just wondering does anyone know the exact spec for the screw that holds the pillion seat / cowl with the frame?

I am searching for the same screw in a longer size but I am not sure as to what to search for!

Much appreciated!

I actually came across something the other day which really helped.... I recently added a new crud catcher to the front end. you replace 4 bolts at the same time... I used one of these for the rear seat cowling and its quite a bit longer and works a treat!

so if you find out what size these are use one the same length!

This isnt sarcasm, But a real compliment.

Wow many thanks to all,
My compliments and thanks, to everyone that particiipate in these threads that provide detailed info and try to help.
Personally, I would never have the patience to sit there and measure screws and bolts with a digital meter etc.
There are other "Billy-engineering" ways to do things :)
However I am glad that many of the members do provide feedback and helpful information from experience.
Because YES I do enjoy reading all of the threads and learn a thing or two :)

Again thank you all for your time.

am I to understand the screw is a common head Torx screw, and not a torx security screw with the “pin” in the center?
Yes the factory bolt is standard Torx and not Security Torx. I think the minor confusion arises because the small keychain seat tool BMW provides and the Torx Allen Key in the kit are both Security Torx for some odd reason. As stated elsewhere Security Torx drivers/bits are "backwards" compatible so there is no issue.
