Oil level low

Hi guys

my bike is approx 10 months old
got about 4500km (2800mi)

I checked the oil yesterday and could see nothing in the sight glass

Naturally after riding it for a bit

Today I poured in 550ml and still can't see anything on the sight glass
Even after a short ride

Should I keep pouring I till oil appears in the sight glass?

And when to check?
Directly after pouring?
Or run the engine a bit?
Thx

There's a previous warning thread about this mate. You should stop riding I'd say until you sort it. Look in the search for oil level. Someone here will be able to help too. Same happened to me at about 3000 miles after seeing the warning. I added almost a litre

I haven't gotten the pressure warning light
So it shouldn't be catastrophically low
Methinks/mehopes

from the manual:

"Only check the oil level after a longer journey or when the engine is warm.
Switch off engine at operating temperature.
Make sure ground is level and firm and hold motorcycle vertically.
Wait five minutes to allow oil to drain to the oil pan."

The sight glass max to min is .5 liters.

If it was me, I'd just drain it and fill fresh with 4qts. I've never found topping off boxers/sight window transactions to be the most awe inspiring - and people overfill quite often trying. It's different if you can see oil in the window and know what you're dealing with, but you'd need to do it in small increments, waiting between each, and re-checking. It should be on a paddock stand if you do that. Since you have no oil in the window, you have no way of knowing exactly how low you are - so running the engine to warm it up is a "proceed at your own risk" sorta thing, even without the low pressure light. I dunno, for the marginal cost of 4qts of oil, I'd just save myself the hassle and change it entirely. Take note of how much you pull out and eyeball it for metal chunks (just in case there's something really bad going on that's leading to the oil consumption) And finally, going forward - start checking your oil more frequently since it sounds like you've got a burner.

Depending on how much you pull out (or top off) you might need to notify your dealer. If your consumption is exceeding 1L/1600KM, you'll want to have it looked at under warranty.

You check the oil AFTER the bike has sat. After sitting at least 5 minutes and with the bike vertical. The owners manual gives you the procedure. Leaning the bike even a little will make a big change in the level you see in the window.

After sitting you should see oil in the sight glass. More is not better. The level at the bottom of the window is functionally better as it keeps oil out of the spinning parts and from being pumped out the breather. Even at the bottom of the window you have 3 1/2+ US quarts in the sump. Bottom of the window to top of the window is about 1/2 quart.

I've checked mine after riding and putting it on it's rear wheel stand. It does take about 5 min for the oil to get down into the sump after riding. It then stays at that level and is still the same after sitting over night.

If you have rear stand put the bike on it to hold it vertical, let it sit 5 minutes and check the level. Sounds like you'll be draining some oil. Easy to do but a bit messy usually. Learned about that when I did my first oil change...

Function not Fluff

I do have a rear stand.

I just poured in another 300ml and barely saw oil through the sight glass.

I'm let sit a few minutes then turned it on for a min and will check it in 6 minutes

Ok
After adding the last 300ml

It's right at the min level

I'll add the remaining 150ml now

Nice! crisis averted. Though, that does seem a little excessive consumption. You probably want to keep track of that.
