Removing Baffles Thread

removed the stock akra baffles and the bike sounds amazing...it is the perfect engine note. anyone considering a replacement can for sound purposes only should take out the stock baffles. took me a few minutes to do.

word to the wise; do not use the seat removal key, rather use a ratchet. my seat key is now bent and out of round.
jkmalo and gnh_1 like this.

Nice one but have you noticed you've lost a small amount of engine breaking with them removed ??
I had a Remus can on my last triple black GS and it was noticeable when throttling off ,not loads but not as good as with the standard can

Don't delay do it today

When I've changed exhaust set ups on Harleys I've always had the bike's ecm recalibrated. On my Ducati Monster 1100 the Termignoni exhaust came with a new ecm. I think the general issue with removing exhaust baffles is that it can make the air / fuel ratio too lean.

I don't know much about HD motorcycles, but the baffles on the T do not look like they build much back pressure. The HD baffles I have seen look like exhaust cores. The ones I removed today were barely two inches long. will take some pictures and post a sound video.

I have been mucking about with exhaust/air box mods for many years. I can actually rebuild and adjust a carburetor if you can believe that..l don't claim to be an expert, but I am fairly knowledgeable. If there are any negatives I will let the forum know.

I have read that BMW, like many European manufacturers, program their fuel mix lean to meet emission standards and that re-flashing the ECM can result in improved performance. If that is correct, I would like to know which shops can (and are willing) to reflash my ECM.
