I do my stuff "strictly" for personal satisfaction. I appreciate your interest and respect your inquiry into a possible business relationship but I have to decline at this time. "My restorations are the children I never had and my modifications are the step-children I didn't seed or need but desired".

I'll let my estate worry about liquidation and enjoy the stuff while I can ride the crap out of it and fix, repair and modify as I see fit.

I initially built a shop out back so I wouldn't have to move the bikes out of the house every time the Grand kids visited, I have gotten to like the idea of having a nice climate controlled area to work on, look at and sometimes mess up my stuff.

As stated before I will have to decline your offer of a business relationship as its not the direction I wish to go with my hobby. Thank you for the interest and suggestion, I will keep it in mind should my current focus be diverted.

Hi Jeff! I really like your photos of the restorations you have done or are currently working on. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you are just doing this as a hobby or if you have started a small business? I am in the process of buying a new house with a really nice shop and would like to start working on some resto/mods of my own. My thought is to start a small business, mainly for tax purposes. Possibly leasing my shop area to the business, writing off the equipment purchases, etc. Also, when I have a completed bike the costs of taking it to custom motorcycle builder shows would hopefully be deductible business expenses. Of course this would also mean having to sell the bike once it's done and it doesn't look like you are doing much of that.

    Thank you for your time,
    Chris

    Hi Jeff,

I'm new here. I bought Mel Ortner's bike advertised in the Marketplace here. Any major lessons learned that I might benefit from?
