  2. Off-road riding: ASC on or off?

    Off Topic Discussion
Spoken like a fellow who knows what he's talking about for sure. :wavetowel2: I concur wholeheartedly and perhaps can add that airing down tires when off tarmac greatly helps with traction. The PSI when airing down depends on the conditions and speeds.... if your riding somewhere rocky like...

  4. Emergency Braking

    BMW NineT General Discussion Forum
The the ABS didn't kick in then you had more stopping power to go, like RR mentioned, it can take a lot to get it to kick in. I practice emergency stopping on highway off ramps and have certainly went from 80mph to stop at full braking with ABS kicking in, the brakes are amazing with the ABS...

  7. Good place to buy OEM Oil and Filter?

    Servicing and Maintenance
Logic would say that as long as it has the same certifications as the rebranded BMW oil then it should be fine. I'm sure there's many high milage BMW owners that have not used BMW branded oil, I am not one of them so I can't say with first hand experience how it will fair in the long run. BMW...
  8. nineT Maintenance

    BMW NineT General Discussion Forum
Changing oil with 1800 miles on it is a waist of money IMO, but if it gives piece of mind then sure... oil doesn't go bad from sitting for 10 months. Brake fluid however does have a shelf life but I've gone years on BMW's without changing brake fluid. Might not recommend that though on a bike...
  9. Good place to buy OEM Oil and Filter?

    Servicing and Maintenance
Walmart oil in a BMW? ;) If you want to find out how well the oil is holding up instead of eying it, next time send a sample out to get analyzed for $25. http://www.blackstone-labs.com
  10. nineT Maintenance

    BMW NineT General Discussion Forum
There's "annual" service recommendations not based on milage, personally if I were you I'd wait and do a full service at the end of your riding season. Oil, oil filter, gear box oil, final drive oil, brake fluid, valve check. If you ride in dusty conditions occasionally then change the air...

Duplicate threads merged. Sounds like you have the right problem solving skills and attitude. Good luck.
  13. Is Your R9T Mystery Shifting 2nd-3rd?

    Engine and Technical Discussion
I totally feel you and agree this is a safety issue. To be objective and since you have said in your post you now ride the bike very cautiously and dealer techs can't replicate the problem, is it possible that you aren't shifting hard enough with your foot? BMW transmissions generally prefer...

To answer question #2 , RichardR9T today asked that his account be deleted so we removed his posts and closed his account, it seems that if the first post in a thread is removed then the thread is removed from public view. I have reinstated that first post and you should see the thread now, but...
  16. Running in

    BMW NineT General Discussion Forum
4 boxer motors and over 200,000 miles following the run-in instructions in the manual to the letter has worked very well for me. There's no secret to it, I listen to the engineers who designed it on what's best to break it in and use BMW rebranded oil and all filters. Never had to add oil...
  17. Stuff You Shouldn't Post in Someones Market Place Ad

    Off Topic Discussion
@Bloochdog Sorry but yes, no bumps or any other other comments not related to buying an item. I know, it is a bas ass bike and worthy of a bump, but the only way we can be impartial is to be consistent in the forum guidelines no matter the good intentions or even with correct statements like...

Agreed. Folks need to read the marketplace guidelines and if you don't like the personal deal being made then move on. Moved to forum feedback. :)
  19. Nippy Normans stole my photo from this forum

    BMW NineT General Discussion Forum
It's easy for people who don't create anything or ever depend on their livelihood from those photos to say who cares, it's just a photo. While a photo that's showing gear and not a work of art is easily dismissed by people, as far as I know even photos posted on a forum still are the...
