Showcase cover image for Just washed and then waxed with Turtle Wax Ice

General Information

I wash the bike using a two bucket method, and the soap I use is Mothers Gold. I hand dry the bulk of the bike using several microfiber cloths, but then give it a quick air blast to get the rest of the water out of all the hiding places. Then I finish up with a quick spray and wipe of the Turtle Wax Ice, which is really great stuff.

Nice - how do you clean out the deep air cooling fins on the cylinder heads? I always struggled to keep those clean, have tried pipe cleaner brushes etc to get in there, but haven't found a method I like yet.

Thanks.

For a regular wash I use a wash mitt that I got from Amazon (link below), it has real long fibers that get pretty deep down. When I really want to get down into the cylinder head grooves, I use a small paint brush and plenty of water, after I use the mitt. (The mitt holds a ton of soapy suds.)

Good luck!

How do you clean that lower pipe that connects the headers? My header pipes are a nice blue/purple but that lower pipe is dingy and grey. I don’t ride in rain, its just dirty from ~1200 miles of riding.

I use SemiChrome Polish, it gets any bugs, grime, road tar off pretty well.

I like to use the brush from my dollar store 3 brush kit-plastic, stainless steel, brass bristles, after a spray of s100 cleaner
I'm sure a regular hard bristle toothbrush would work as well.

Agree, and that takes a little more elbow grease.

For those that enjoy polishing, I find Solvol Autosol or NeverDull to be the best, both are a bit expensive but they do the job especially good when it comes to removing tar and zift from the road.
