My Nine T goes 141 mph. How 'bout yours? Sweet spot is 5500 - 6500 rpm. Fourth gear goes from 30 mph to 100 mph with ease. Good gracious what a fun bike.
Sounds like you were taking a more direct approach to the break-in than I was yesterday.....My Nine T goes 141 mph. How 'bout yours? Sweet spot is 5500 - 6500 rpm. Fourth gear goes from 30 mph to 100 mph with ease. Good gracious what a fun bike.
110 was the fastest I ever got the R80 to go, and that was out on a flat, deserted stretch of Texas somewhere between San Angelo and Fort Stockton. My eyeballs start jiggling at about 110 mph. There are probably smoother motors out there.
I can't read the sign from here, but I know it says 85mph. Obviously I live close to the highest posted speed pavement in Texas, and I think the highest in the nation. But I do remember coming to signs in the west that said "end of speed limit." There is now scuff wear reaching almost all the way across the tread. I, too, remember riding bikes that got scary over 80 and real scary over 100. I would have no trouble riding this bike at it's stop speed for as long my arms could hang on - it's that surefooted. Congratulations BMW by the way!How much is the speed limit on Texan highways again?![]()
philip......you are absolutely freakin nuts!My Nine T goes 141 mph. How 'bout yours? Sweet spot is 5500 - 6500 rpm. Fourth gear goes from 30 mph to 100 mph with ease. Good gracious what a fun bike.
Alamo BMW Boerne Texas.I imagine that it was more airflow than the engine at 110. So, where did you pick it up? I am asking since it looks like Austin still hasn't gotten a single unit.
The first wreck was the day the tollway opened. Well, that night anyway. A lady hit several hogs. A week or two later a later was sent airborne when she hit a pig that was longer than my truck is wide. I've killed about a dozen pigs in my yard and see them all the time. Between the pigs and the deer it's pretty scary around here. You just have to look out for the wild pigs on the tollway down there![]()
That IS scary. We have deer, seen daily, but pigs!Between the pigs and the deer it's pretty scary around here.
gotta ride MadMax style ..... gun in scabbard and spikes n shredders sticking outThe first wreck was the day the tollway opened. Well, that night anyway. A lady hit several hogs. The Nine T at full speed is steady as a rock. Anything smaller than an armadillo would only make a big noise. Anything bigger would make a bigger noise.110 was the fastest I ever got the R80 to go, and that was out on a flat, deserted stretch of Texas somewhere between San Angelo and Fort Stockton.
Never tried it again.
Started acting like it would come unstuck if I hit so much as a cockroach, much less something bigger like a loose rock or a rattlesnake.
The bad thing about pigs, for cars at least, is that they tend to roll under the car. They appearantly don't compress very well and can cause the car to go sideways and possibly roll. In any event, not fun. I don't imagine a bike would fare very well against them either. That IS scary. We have deer, seen daily, but pigs!
Man o man. Careful and mindful riding in your area.
