I see that a few people have ordered their R NineT and I wondered if they were able to order specific options. ABS will be standard as will heated grips here in Canada but I'd like to get cruise control and maybe electronically adjustable suspension.

Thank you,

there are no options
all bikes are the same
only dealer-installed options will be available
exhaust systems initially, for example
no cruise control
doubt heated grips
there no adjustable suspension
THIS IS A RETRO BIKE.... with all due respect
there was NEVER going to be any options like that
that's why i have a '14 GS i'm picking up in 3 hours

the R nineT will be amazing
but please embrace it for what it is meant to be
a retro bike

The Product Information Bulletin lists the following;

BMW Motorrad special accessories can be installed by authorized BMW Motorrad dealers or by customers themselves.
Special accessories.
• Tank Bag with attachment system.
• Rear bag with attachment system.
• Kneepads for tank sides.
• Aluminum tail cover with padded backrest.
• Custom rider’s seat with R nineT logo.
• Comfort rear seat.
• HP Carbon cover for engine block.
• HP Carbon front fender.
• Titanium Akrapović exhaust system.
• Connector pipe, long, with bracket and cover for Akrapović silencer/muffler, high-mounted.
• Connector pipe, short, for Akrapović silencer/muffler, low-mounted.
• Mount for standard Akrapović silencer or accessory rear silencer/muffler (low-mounted), if pillion seat removed.
• Anti-theft alarm system.
• Heated grips.
• LED turn signals.
• Mounting cradle for BMW Navigator, with connection to electrical system.

I thought I also read somewhere in the factory info that Anti-theft alarm system is strangely the only possible factory option.

Aaah, I found where it talks about the Anti-Theft Alarm. Again from the BMW Motorrad USA Product Information Bulletin dated 10/16/13

Product / Equipment
The included press release has detailed product information for the new R nineT.
The R nineT is about pure design and customizing. As such, it is offered in one color, Black Storm Metallic, and there is only one available option, Anti-Theft Alarm.
A full range of BMW accessories will complement the nineT. This bike has also been designed as a perfect platform for owners that want to customize it.

It's strange that the 6" large back rim is not an option.
This means you have to buy a new rim ?
It is interesting that they don't list a matching 6" wheel. They do make a point of saying that there will be a 6" wide version of the standard 5.5" wheel.

The housing for the rear axle drive incorporates an innovative feature for further customizing the nineT. The housing, as on the other boxer models, includes three mounting points that can be used, for example, to attach a bracket for positioning the license plate on one side together with the light unit. The nineT also has so much room between the silencers (mufflers) and swingarm that the standard 5.5-inch-wide 17-inch wheel can be replaced with a 6-inch-wide version. Such modifications, however, are dependent upon state and federal regulations.

What's up with the "dependent on ....regulations"? for a 6" rim? Notice too that there is no license plate bracket or tail light listed in the accessories for the mounting points on the axle drive housing. Me thinks much more is yet to come.

just yesterday BMW dealers were allowed to order the bikes for the very first time. There were no options available whatsoever. Everything in the BMW bulletin will be done as an after sale at the dealership level install. Therefore, every single bike will be ordered the same way. My dealer ordered six.

I picked up my 2014 GS today and posted pictures elsewhere in this forum and got that information just two hours ago

Is your dealer one of the higher traffic dealers around you?
Might be a good time to find out what allocation is like since we know what this dealer of yours is getting.

there really are not that many BMW motorcycle dealers in Florida but my dealer... euro cycles of tampa bay is one of the state's largest. I believe he was only allocated 4 initially and he ordered all of them. I am number two on that list. I will call tomorrow and find out more information and post it here

even though I live in Florida heated grips are a wonderful option
but, with this kind of blank canvas sort of a build it surprises me not that they weren't included

Having had many BMW bikes in the past I'd really miss heated grips. I have read that an alarm is about the only factory option.

Thank you for everyones input.

Yep RET46 you haven't misread the posts so far ,you can order other extras from your dealer to be fitted by the dealer, once your bike arrives to your desired dealer and all extras fitted by the tech boys in house ,so just order your grips on your bike order and jobs a gooden my friend ;)
