I went back to stock after installing the V&H slip on, The pipe looked good over all but some of the welds..., lighter for sure and it a little loud but not bad. It had some lag on early throttle, to much for my taste so back on went the stocker. I didn't really feel any gain in HP or TRQ and think it was in need of a tune but don't want to do that while in warranty. Will removing the flapper give a little more sound and any gains?

On my 2014 bike I found that removing the flapper resulted in (to my ears) a nicer and slightly louder sound at low RPM, plus a slight loss of engine braking. As stated this is on a 2014 model, which has a different ECU and engine power characteristics as compared to 2017 and later bikes. On later bikes you also need to install a Servo Buddy (or similar) to stop the bike throwing a fault code on the dash.

How long did you leave the V&H pipe on your bike? The bike's ECU will need a little time to adapt and adjust fuelling to cope with the new silencer.
