Helpful thread, going from Rizoma clip ons back to a stock bar and was curious if the CRG mirrors I have would work with the factory bolt/end. Good to know as long as I have a 12mm drill bit I should be good to go.

Hi guys, I bought the rizoma bar end mirrors from bmw rninet but they don’t fit.

See the pics below, had anyone put these on?
The second pic is the large bolt that comes out and the small bolt is from the new mirrors.

What’s the adapter I need? Is what’s on the last pic correct?

thabks heaps

I just installed CRG bar end mirrors using OEM hardware with no drilling or moving of controls and cost was less than $1.50. Solution: got three M12 lock washers that fit on the OEM bolt - when tightened, it creates just enough space for the mirror to clamp on while leaving a very small gap so that nothing snags on it. Seems to work ok and looks decent, let's see how long it lasts.

A few of the members have installed bar end mirrors, and when asked how, they typically respond with not the most detailed info. I wanted to fix that. So, I did some research and found a inexpensive and easy way to install a nice set.

Tools needed: Drill, bench vice, Torx socket set, socket wrench.

These are the mirrors I used:

I decided on the BikeMasters as I wanted to keep a stock look by keeping the aluminum end trim, minimal modification, and dead simple bolt on design. And they are half what Rizoma's cost.

Start by taking out the bar end Torx bolt (T-55 size)

It might be harder than you expect to remove due to the factory applied loctite, but it will come out.

Unfortunately the mounting hole on the BikeMaster bar end mirrors is not large enough for the stock end bolt, so the next step is to widen it. I used a small vice to hold the mirror while drilling it out with a 1/2 bit. The metal is easy to work with, took less than 20 seconds.

Then reassemble. The factory bolt is more than long enough to hold everything in place.

Looks pretty good to me, and only takes 10 minutes from start to finish.

Sorry for the shitty garage photos, its snowing outside today
Did you have photos posted of the in-progress and final result? Can't see them in the post.

@bdogChicago I can see the pictures, you may need to check your web browser settings.
Also the member you are quoting hasn't been on the forum in over six years so you probably won't get an answer.
Do you have any specific questions about the install that other forum members may be able to help you with?

Using the Rizoma adapter mentioned earlier. The Barkbuster bar end weights come with a M6 bolt that fits the adapter. That being said I have a different spacer coming that will fit an M8 bolt and a thread reducer to convert the thread in the bar from M12 to M8.
