Hey all, so we all know this new bike is getting great reviews. Heck, everyone I know is talking about having this as their first (or second, or third) bike. I've started reaching out to dealers to get a sense of when we would get them, if people are getting large demand, so here's my findings so far.

1) The bike is in HUGE HUGE demand.

I don't think this surprises any of us, but every dealer I've contacted is talking already about supply issues, not enough NIneT's to go around, and to get deposits in early. Some dealers have as many as 3 deposits already, and the bike is a week into announcement. THAT IS HUGE!

2) Deposits are currently in the $100 range

This is great news! We were worried that they would hold people hostage to get the bikes.

3) The first NineT's are expected to land state-side Feb/March 2014, but dealers in the NY area are confirming as late as march 15th. So, in time for the riding season next year!!

4) If you want one, really want to secure one, Bob's BMW (bobsbmw.com) is expecting 4-5 of them to arrive for that February/March timeframe, and they already have 3 deposits down.

The things you will hear dealers say about the NineT, so be prepared:

"They (BMW) have stated they will limit the production."

"We are not sure (BMW won’t let us or any other dealer know) how many we will get."

"Its possible we may only receive a few (tops 4-5)"

SO WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN!

- Get your deposits in!
- Don't wait!
- Shop around to dealers and make sure you're in the top 4-5 to get them. In fact, post and let us know so we can co-ordinate it.NineTOwners is a great place to track it, we have all the people looking to buy these bikes, and we have dealers on here that may be able to help you squeeze through if financing falls through for someone, or they get extras.

Don't let the winter get you too down waiting for your NineT's, but at this rate this bike is HOT HOT HOT!

Happy shopping/hunting!

Joe do we know anything about the production run? Is NineTs production going to be a limited run of bikes or will they simply be built to order? It would make sense if initial allocation is lower, Just BMW protecting themselves, but I have to imagine if you dont get a deposit in there will still be a NineT in your future, just maybe not in time for next season ;)

Great question, I have sent that to the dealer to ask. I am not sure!

really now. I didn't expect that much interest in the NineT

where are all those interested!? sure aren't on this forum. too many lurkers?!

we should have an official preordered database thread.
New bike, and yeah, I'd guess a lot are still researching :) Lots of lurkers!

I agree, once people start placing orders I suggest we do a sticky where you can track your order. Maybe I'll create it now. Great idea! Edit: it's here! http://www.ninetowners.com/forum/dealers-pricing/721-official-ive-put-down-deposit-thread.html

Over here, the deposit story is unusual. You sign the contract, that's it.
And what does a deposit helps you, if the Dealer cannot get enough machines from BMW ?

I have A $500 "rolling" deposit at my dealer for 12 years. Whenever I buy a new bike I do not include the deposit as part of my purchase but just leave it on account there. Whenever a new bike comes along the catches my interest they always put the number one on the list. Usually I don't buy that bike. Obviously. However, sometimes I do and I'm always able to get the first one that comes in. Oddly, I pick up my new 2014 GS week from today and have not had time to put my deposit back in its proper place in the dealership. Therefore, when I called with interest about the nineT two days after its announcement when I called to put my deposit on it I was already second on the list since it was a guy in the dealership at the moment it was announced who asked to have the first one. I know that my dealer will receive more than one bike so it really is not an issue

Hi Greg, from the information I've been supplied, the custom seat is slightly lower than the standard seat:) Albeit only 10 millimetres, but every little bit helps for the vertically challenged, ie: Mrs Chumba;):D
10mm makes a huge difference. the difference between being slightly uncomfortable and very comfortable to the point it's PERFECT.

Mrs Chumba (5ft 3in) concurs firmly with You 9T33! Even Her current ride has had a slight suspension mod, and custom seat! Brings it down to 785mm, and at that, She's just flat foot on both sides, on level ground.:)
