The R1200R is a bike I've noticed that comes up quite often on the boards so i figured the community might benefit from a thread to compare the two. Now I may not be able to go into the technical aspects of both bikes like I know some of you can, but hey that why we're all here ;)

Lets start off visually. Found these pictures on ADV rider comparing the seat heights.

visually the R1200R has a bigger tail and a higher rise in the gas tank.

Here are the two bikes laid over each other

wheel bases are nearly identical, but i believe part of the tank rise on the R1200R is due to the telelever front end. From this picture you can tell that the NineT is unmistakably a BMW R bike underneath.

From what I understand the biggest difference between the R NineT and the R1200R is the NineTs inverted front forks and a telelever swing-arm setup. It will be curious to see how the NineT handles vs the R1200R.

Underneath the two are unmistakably similar.

Let's say I'm within spec:rolleyes: 6'-1" and 33" so body angle will result in a little more flycatching:eek::eek:

Very interesting link as seen on the forum cycle-ergo.com
Yep your a perfect split sized candidate for the 9T tracteur;) and it will feel like a moped to your good self:D ,and it'll be ridden flat out everywhere:) enjoy your flies:D:D

It all depends how you were created Tracteur what's your devide:confused:
Are you long in the leg or long in the body ;),if it's leg then your legs will be up the tank ,but if you have a long torso and short legs then you'll catch more flies :D
I'm 5'-11" with an inside leg of 33" and for me the 9Ts how I like it ,but yes minute and no armchair compared to my 2012 GSTB :D:D
Im the same height with 34" inseam. Basing on your photo and this measurements looks like the nineT will be just how i want it to be ergo-wise. I havent even twisted the nineT throttle yet and i already have a very wide grin on my face.
is anyone going to alter the NineT ergos? I mean some low risers and move the rearsets...
My image at the minute has it with a flat bar, lowering grip position slightly.

Clipons and rearsets for me will only come along if somebody creates a handsome looking front fairing for it.
After seeing the pics of Bose sitting on the nine-T, I'm convinced this bike is not for me.
I've been waiting for this bike, dreaming of this bike, ever since the low rider concept.
I hope you will all find what you're expecting for and am very curious of how you will modify them.
Why ???????????????

For the same reason I love the Monstro but never will buy one: i'm to big for this kind of bike. I've more the physic of a bear than a playboy, if you see what i mean ;).
But I still have my R1200R which I love. And there is still plenty to do on this bike to make it special and one of a kind.

stay on the forum M&M, most of your posts are >ok
if I have my 9T, always wanted to have a ride together with a bear;)

I will say M&M I was shocked at the 9Ts size when I sat on it ,it's not to small for me although it does maybe look small with me aboard ;),but I like the fit it gives me and I will enjoy hanging off it around the alps/Dolomites :D
After my first viewing and seating I went and immediately sat on a R1200r and it felt a lot bigger and a lot more bike but not what I desire :(
Stay in touch and your posts and thoughts are always most welcome on this forum ;):D
I'm still fan of this bike and will stay to read your thoughts and post whatever I find on the web.

it is not often a good thing to be 5'6" tall with a 27.5 inch inseam but it sure will be to ride this bike. Of course, I have no problem on my normally-suspended 2014 GS either.

I cannot wait to swing a leg over the R nineT... it's going to be amazing

It's easy to just put one foot down on an adventure bike ,but if can put both of my feet flat on the floor on the 9T no worries :D I don't care if I end up looking to big for the 9T I just know it's the bike for me and will enjoy many miles on many different roads :D and if not ,it's for sale and I will get something else :D

i'm glad you will get one
when i first began riding it would not have been comfortable for me to have a bike as tall as my GS but after almost 250,000 miles on the road it is second nature to me. I still want to be sure that I don't stop with there's a big indentation on one side of my bike or another, however :D

as was said above me and considering the great conversations we've had in private messages I want to make sure you stay around this forum for a long, long time to come because you add a great deal here whether or not you ever buy the bike
Cheers for that M&M ;):D
What about this one,it's a bit of a beast  well maybe it is in India with a family of 8 aboard it :D:D

You don't look to big on the nine-T.
Not only not too big...I would say almost exactly in proportion to the bike.

I took the photo and cleaned out the background. I think it lets you see the dimensions of the bike better in relation to the rider. It also emphasizes the rear cowl (which typically disappears in a cluttered background, making the bike look skimpy toward the back).

Being a touch over 6 feet, I'm not too concerned about fitting on this bike after looking at this picture.
