I’d go for it if I already have the handheld (which I do) and your money (which I don’t).
Well I would go for it but unfortunately BrenTuning has stopped replying to my email.
I got a price confirmation to upgrade to Stage 2 and that was it.
Sent several emails to go forward with the purchase but still got no response.

Many folk on forum have had a good experience with BT, and I respect that; however, the experience has been neutral for me. I am not comfortable bashing a business that has supported ninetowners: I don't want to do it. I do get the feeling that I was sold something (v.2 handheld) that had software still in development, that I was an unknowing early adopter. BT tried to support me for a while but washed their hands of me when the issue wasn't resolved.

As they say: maybe it's me.

I would note that I'm the only person that has come forward with my 4th gear observation according to Chris at BT. That said, I wouldn't spend my money on the upgrade - again - without planning on a flapperless exhaust mod. I'd take the handheld for a birthday present, but even then I would warn that ECU flashing is not a process devoid of risk. Shoot, my BMW shop actively avoids unnecessary ECU flashing because THEY get random bricking.

I don't think its you.

I had some problems with BT last year with one of my maps.
I couldn't resolve the issue because it was either me who doesn't know how to write emails in english or it was him who wasn't forcing himself to understand what was the problem.
After a couple of emails, I told him let’s talk on the phone so we can better communicate, he declined and didn't want to talk on the phone. Conversation with him stopped after he choose not to reply to my email.

Fast forward to this year, I see that he has a Stage 2 map.
I send him an email inquiring about the map...he gives me a price for a returning customer.
I ask him couples of questions about the tune and as usual he barely replies...he just send me the link to the product description of stage 2 map.
After that, I decide to go forward (leap of faith - I want to put all the bad experience I had with him behind us)
I reply him that I want to buy the map...he doesn't reply.
Then I send him a follow up email a couple of days later...still no reply.
Then I send him another follow-up email and still no reply.
I wasn't born yesterday, he is clearly ignoring me.

I hope I am wrong but it is becoming a Hate/Love Relationship.
You love the product (which needs a bit of tweak) but you hate the part of dealing with them.
I debated for hours if I should post this or not, but it is what it is.
I stand by all I said and I am prepared to face BT replies in this forum in front of everyone.

BT couldn't ask for better forum members:
We wrote procedures for BT on this forum on how to use the handheld when his instructions were none-existent.
We wrote countless good reviews of the fuel map which by all means is a good map but needs tweaking.
But when you need them, you are non-existent if the gentlemen running the show decides to put you on the black list.

I wish them luck in their business model but sadly I learned my lesson and it is the end of the road for me.

So for now, I am looking at another tuner/solutions for my needs.
Back to square one I guess.

Yeah. It is a perverse comfort to know I’m not the only one. Sorry you get to share the experience. But it isn’t like we can just re-jet our carbs.

Baldy posted a link to another vendor for handheld tuners. The problem for me is this: With BrenTuning we have a knowledge base, not so much with this other company. My BT is okay if I take the flappers out of the equations.

Were you dealing with “Chris?”

I’m waiting on my tune files but I’m curious as to what I should expect. Especially with the low engine breaking - is the difference noticeable to the point where driving style will have to change significantly? Also, will the power be significantly upped? I know it’s unrealistic to expect the bike to behave like a monster 1200 but will it come close? I actually opted to get this tune instead of the monster because I felt it might be a happy inbetween inasfar as having to compromise the looks of the 9t for the performance of the 1200s/r monster. Does it come close with this tune?

You will lose less tread if you change acceleration in mid corner Bc of the reduced engine breaking. You might not notice because recent service flashes seem to have addressed this. The throttle will be more responsive, front tire is 10% more likely to catch air on hard traffic entry.

do you mean lose tread if I change acceleration mid cornering?

Throttle changes (deacceleration ose tread can stop your tire rotation. When that happens, you lose rubber.

Another thing, you well see a drop in your mileage. Mine went down more than 10%.

Alright so I’m just reporting back and I definitely perceive the (lack of) engine breaking now. It’s pretty crazy but I honestly prefer the bike like this. It still comes to a halt eventually so it’s not like you’re just floating on Indefinitely which is good. I also have to say the tune itself has turned the bike sooo smooth. This thing feels so refined now. The tune, along with catless headers makes the bike really run like it’s supposed to. The power is non stop til the end and the get go makes the bike feel like butter. Honestly so happy I tuned it finally.

not gonna lie, i guess I was sort of expecting it to go from Capable to “beastly” but I’m glad it went from capable to incredibly refined. It feels like a true bond machine now. Ready to give it all, but be of the utmost class while giving it to ya

I installed my off the shelf Bren Tune yesterday. Got a dyno run today and the bike is running lean in the 4-6k rpm range. I will attach photos of the graphs once I get them. Any suggestions?
Update: Guys at the shop said the AFR is probably a bad reading because iI still have stock headers. Cat was in the way, so they couldn't put the sensor all the way in header to get accurate AFR reading. Catless pipes should be installed in about 2-3 weeks.
