I had not intended to order this item, but the parts guy at the dealer ordered it by mistake with all of my other stuff. I was feeling generous, so i went ahead and got it.

This may be my only helpful input too this site, so here goes. If you happen to buy this thing and go to install it.... there are five screws .... three lower and two upper that are hard to get to. I sized the lowers at torx 25 and assumed the uppers were the same and went about trying to get them out..... they are not. They are torx 20 and very difficult to get to.

Good luck and let me know how you got to them if you try this.

I really fancied this when I saw it but over here in the UK there's always crap on the roads ,and in no time at all with the high front mudguard it would become gravel Rashed and look pants in no time at all ,and I don't want the bother of having it re lacquered frequently ,but for good riding environments it will stay looking sharpe and enhance the front of the block ;):D

Accessing those 2 top screws!

You are right of course. I didn't feel like tearing into the bike that much just to install a cosmetic piece. - i'm not a very experienced wrencher ....
I just received my carbon engine cover. Thanks for calling out the exact torn sizes for the lower-3 and upper-3 screws!

But having now spent considerable time staring at these those upper 2 screws I have to ask: can either Mr. Bones ("remove the oiler cooler") or Dogwatch ("that are hard to get to") share some more detail on how to go wrench those bad boys???

Anyone got a link to the part? Pictures?

Good luck!

God's speed. And if you do pull it off, please share how you were able to access those !*#@ top-2 screws! :)

Ordered mine from HF Carbon Parts in Germany. Quality is superb and it costs a lot less than the OEM part from BMW.

Got it this morning and will try to install it later today.

I'll let you know how it went. ;)

Back from my garage. I finally gave up on those two effing top screws.
I've tried with every torx tool I've got... In my view there is no way to get to them without taking off the oil cooler and/or the tank first.

I got my hp carbon fiber engine cover today. My sales person said it would be a 15 minute instal but I knew better. I knew there were those two screws tucked up high that looked impossible to get to. As previously stated, the lower 3 screws are T25 and the upper two are T20. After 1.5 hours of trying every type of wrench combination I could I went to lowes and bought a flexible snake screw driver. I popped in a small T20 bit I had from another driver set and had to carefully slip it through the small opening through the frame on the side. I did remove the two bolts holding the oil cooler and let it rest of the front fender with a pad under it. The flexible driver worked like a charm after you get it lined up.
