Hi,

I have a US 2017 R nineT and live and ride in California and am consider a Daedalus tail tidy, specifically the integrated version.

Can someone at Daedalus comment on DOT compliance and other possible issues from not riding OEM?

Tks

P.S. - I live in San Francisco and would love to come up to the factory to say hi. Do you guys accept visits?

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that California has a law regarding the distance between turn signals and the tail tidy does not meet that distance requirement. That being said, I have it and I live in SoCal. There are so many stock bike turn signal configurations these days combined with thousands of bikes with tail tidys in CA that I've never heard of anyone getting pulled over for one.

As long as your signals work and you use them, you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than pulled over for one

Riding illegal bikes and non DOT helmets for 20+ years in SF Bay Area . . . I wouldn't worry about it at all - Especially in SF. Go for Style!

Hey Adriano! Thanks for the question. So, we have designed this kit to comply most with EU standards, as they are much more involved with keeping an eye on bikes over there. Our integrated strip circuit is spaced at 180mm apart, end to end. The thing with US laws pertaining to motorcycles, is a lot of them apply to when the bike is sold new, and are never checked up on again. We've never had a single customer report any problem with the distance. Research into the California motorcycle requirements states that turn signals must be 9 inches apart. Ours doesn't satisfy that requirement nor is it DOT approved. Hopefully this addresses your concerns!
