In France, we are lucky: our gouvernment is still maintaining the old law regarding the maximum power allowed for a bike, limited to 106 (or 107 for the NineT) hp... despite the fact everybody else in Europe can ride an unrestricted bike...
Anyway, I know the difference is not that high between a stock, unrestricted NineT and the french restricted version (110hp vs 107hp) BUT... I've read in another post, from @Bose (http://www.ninetowners.com/forum/en...94-exhaust-mod-removable-tip-2.html#post33402) that an ECU modification can bring more power to the beast...
I don't want it to be a dragster, but, if it can be more powerful and more like my previous bike (Aprilia SL 1000), I will be glad.

Here are my two questions:
- does anyone know how this restriction is done and how it can be removed?
- can anyone @Bose?) explain what this ECU modification is, who can do it, what is the average price of such a mod... ?

Put in the search toolbar at the top of the page ENGINE FLASH and it will take you to some info on flashing the ECU ;) it's under exhaust mod thread:D

You might void the warranty. And IMO reduce life expectancy (higher temps). Good Luck!
No problems with warranty on this as it's encrypted and can't be read or removed by BMW so how will they ever know :p
It will run far smoother and more efficiently if a flash to your ECU is needed ;)
It won't run hotter as the correct air/fuel ratio is programmed into the engine management system ,and not lean for factory emissions as standard ,live a little ride a lot and forget the warranty :D:D:D
