well if heat wrap is a bad solution maybe high temp paint to change the color?
Only on aluminum, so far i know.what about anodizing?
right... almost forgot.Only on aluminum, so far i know.
thats part of why i love it.its also adds a bit of "vintageness" to it. which doesnt hurt.
The headers are definitely stainless steel. Check out the press photos and the videos. The pipes are brown. Chrome blues, stainless turns brown. All recent boxers except the C use stainless.I love when the get the bluish hue, makes people think you know how to move quickly![]()
I'd say the best is to dismount the headers before wrapping but if you are lazy just wrap it where it liesGiven the form and style of the headers... Would you recommend to do the wrapping with the headers mounted or dismounted...?
I am very lazy...
... hello Street, curious to see what you mean by 'nice bronze hue' ...One tip to get a nice bronze hue. Before the headers get hot even once, wipe down the pipes carefully with disc brake cleaner. On my last boxer, the dealer or I missed a spot and whatever was on there turned dark brown.
For those who are new to the marque, pipe coloring is part of the charm of the boxer. You don't cover, use Blu Away, or Simichrome.
