What is the best method to remove the reflectors from the forks ?

I've had luck heating them up with a heat gun and prying them off. Residue cleans up with some WD 40 while warm.

if you have a steamer even better.

if not maybe a blow dryer or heat gun

though i'd be careful with the heatgun.

I've always had luck with slipping some fishing line between the fork and reflector and working my way down, top to bottom. Then cleaning up with WD 40 or something similar.

That was my first "mod". I just pulled them both off. One side came off clean, the other left some double sided sticky tape on the fork. Any organic solvent, together with a little scraping using a plastic putty knife, will take that right off.

warning on the 3m adhesive remover.

on unpainted plastic it can stain.

A great all round spot and stain remover is the good old fashioned eucalyptus oil. This stuff is the "Cats Whiskers" for removing all soughts of sticky stuff. Including the sticky residue left behind from double sided tape. And is friendly to plastics, and human skin.

if its fresh you could just probably rub it off with your finger. it hasn't had much time to really sit on there anyways. being a new bike and all

It's true. These reflectors were put on after a run to the hardware store for double sided tape. They peel right off. Made the feds happy.

Some well placed retro-reflective 3M tape in the right spots is way more effective, and almost invisible during the day.

That's all I did too. Just slowly pulled outward on the reflector, and it peeled itself away with no tape left on the forks. Cleaned off any gummy residue with the same sticky tape left on the reflector. Just dabbed it over the residue and it lifted right off.

No heat gun, no fishing line, no nothing.

Dental floss or fishing line will go right through the sticky pad in seconds. Rub off the residue with fingers. Maybe a squirt of WD-40.

Leave the heat guns and adhesive removers, etc. in their box. Not needed.
