How would you go about protecting the pretty black engine block and most of the front from being damaged by stone chips and worse? Here in Tassie almost all roads have plenty of grit/stones lying in the corners of the road, mainly from trucks/cars cutting through the tight bends. We like to keep Tassie quite rural - that's part of its Natural Charm, he he, but who would like his beauty look like a beaten old weathered veteran in no time ....? I guess no one ......

I was thinking about modifying/changing front mudguard perhaps to something like this; in the good old days BMW knew that the front wheel needed something extra .....

I agree.

I have put 'fender extenders' on all my bikes to minimise cosmetic damage and cut down on cleaning but with the R9T it will have to be something eye-catching and functional not to spoil the look. Machine Art Moto in the US does make an extender for the R12R which works well but I don't think it will suit.

Someone out there will design something. I just hope they look beyond carbon which is a bit overdone IMHO.

How long before I see here a NineT with plastic luggage, a huge screen and a lot of extenders and hand guards ?
i'll make sure I pre-treat myself for nausea before visualizing that monstrosity

It is a personal choice how each person sees the use and finish of their bike, but Maybe some people are choosing the wrong bike for the purpose it's been designed for over the past 5years  IMHO
There will sure be some Frankenstein bikes sporned for sure ;):D:D

It would be cool if BMW let some aftermarket parts makers get their hands on the 9T33 preproduction model to get some R&D going for parts, so once the bike is out, not much longer till parts are too.
for all we know that is exactly what they are doing
I hope so
