Since it's 90 years since the launch of the first BMW bike - BMW has graced us with their newest R1200-based cafe racer. The BMW Nine-T! You've landed on a forum dedicated to it, because we love bikes, we love BMW's, and really, this new bike is fantastic.
It was a few months ago that they announced that the bike was coming out. 1923 - that year brings out this image in my head:
How far we've come since then. We've gone from broken cars to bikes with chains, to this bike with a shaft. We've gone from extreme amount of repair and maintenance to a maintenance-free bike. We've come from a BMW R23 in 1923, to a NineT in 2013.
The spy photos that were released a year ago showed this to be a 1200cc air cooled boxer twin, which is similar to the Lo-Rider concept in 2008. It has sports bike like suspension, and sport brakes. It has a sexy round headlight and a low side-mounted exhaust.
For those of you afraid that this is a one year model thing (ie: it will be gone in a year), fear not - BMW is not planning on killing the bike off in the first year. It will be around for years to come.
If you are a NineT lover or just a BMW bike enthusiast, we welcome you here, and happy anniversary - join us in the celebration!
