I inquired of my dealer about the price of heated grips for the R9T and he responded with $855 AUD and $165 fitting.

Can't believe that FMD $855 (= approx $770 US or $460 GBP). What have you been quoted or paid.

As for the seat cowl $660 AUD.

Does anybody know of a dealer who's pricing is better?

Are getting screwed down here or do I need to get with the program?

It IS a bit rich heh!! $1240 fitted for the grips up here, Your price for fitting is a little less, We were quoted $380:( And perusing the quote for other accessories We asked for, they are, in the main, on the high side. I think it fair to say, that We're all in the same boat:eek:

Everyone is getting robbed! Even limbs are getting chopped off in exchange for parts :D
I'm chuffed with my initial deal I haven't paid anything for my fitted heated grips or auxiliary exhaust hanger ,or it's first service when due just paying £11620 all in :D:D from a brilliant dealer who is also delivering my 9T to my home on the 17th march :D:D

I didn't dare ask the price on the seat cowl . . . I just said add it to the bill.
Actually, I didn't dare ask the price on the cowl, the cowl pad, the head protectors, or the exhaust support. Guess I'll find out when I see the final bill

I did originally order the alarm as it was a factory fit. Now I'm told the bike turns up without, and will be fitted later by the dealer, (that is once they get the alarm kit 'cause it's on backorder!). That cost $505.

What is money for if you don't spend it?

Love your work Captain ... For my last BMW I did the same on day one added all the xtras i wanted, everything I wanted and at the end had a final $ number.
I am doing the opposite, when I pick up the new ninet bike i am going totally standard ... Going get to know it as it is for awhile, then look at stuff - but on day one what comes outta crate is what I am taking home !

Craig, at least you can make do without heated handlebars in Sydney .... instead you might wanna look at the $50 Hippo-Handlebar-Muffs from China on Ebay :D for those few occasion you venture into Canberra or Blue Mountains on icy days ;) (you wont catch me with those though).... Our stablemates further North will have to invest in mesh jackets & boots instead :p

Hi Petrichor
I ordered the heated grips online (left and right grips and the button) which cost me $227 euro including shipping which equates to about $335 AUD. Fitted myself and the catch is that you need to have the dealer to activate the grips from ECU. Try fit it right before your service and ask your dealer to activate them during servicing the bike. My dealer was nice and didn't charge me for the activation - even it was done after my service.
The grips are now very warm....:D I normally start riding very early in the morning so they helps a lot. No more holding the engine/exhaust at the light for me. Nevertheless winter this year in Sydney has been very warm.

Here is how/where I get them:
get the OEM numbers from
RealOEM.com Â* Diagram Selection

and I bought mine from
Auto parts online - car parts, tyres, wheels, oils - PartSale.eu

The only downside is it took more than a month from order to receive. but hey, $1020 vs $335, can't complain much.

Yesterday I had my first chance to really try out those Gerbings heated gloves (4hr ride through coastal mountain areas) what a difference to heated grips! The heat starts from the wind-exposed side side of the fingers and travels to the back of the hand. Toasty fingers at about 'feels-like-0-degrees' chilled air through the hills. Gloves and temp controller are not cheap, but well worth it IMHO. Gonna look for heated boot liners now .... :)
