Hi everybody!

I'm putting a deposit down very soon on a R9T so here I am. :D

It's going to replace my trusty and much loved 07' R1200R, giving Roadie the Roadster to my girl (trading in her G650GS) to keep it in the family. I always said I'd get something new when the 12R hit 100k miles and I'm about there... works out BMW is releasing this beauty soon.
I (we) like to ride and take various camping adventures - dirt, pavement, whatever, all of them looking for places off the beaten path and away from the masses. To get Lost.
I think with a little love, pack it up with camping and photo gear the R9T will be a perfect bike for me to do my thing on. To me, motorcycles are tools not jewels.:D

We also have a few other bikes that the R9T will be joining, a Husaberg FE570S (Swedish Mistress), a Honda CRF250L (Little Red Piggy) and of course the R1200R (Roadie the Roadster). We have owned a R1150R, F800GS and a F800R, but those are gone now.
Not sure what the 9T shall be called yet...

Anyways, since I'm a visual kind of guy here's some of our photos for introductions, motorcycling and photography go hand in hand... I'm looking forward to contributing what I can to the forum!

Cheers

Ok. There's so much to to be jealous of in all those pics I won't shame myself to try and list them all.

All I can say is I Hate You.

woohoo, you've certainly gave us some good reasons to increase the number of bikes in our stables! Seriously top shelf photos!
Cool website too .... so, when will you be roadie-ing to DownUnder? I'd make it worth your while .... possum-pemmican, wallaby stew, roadkill pie ... tempted yet? ;)

Thank you Bonkorama! I'm a lucky guy for sure to have such a great partner who likes to live life to the fullest.
As soon as you get your new bike, lets meet up at the Rock Store, I'll be happy to take some photos...

Thank you stubborn, and huntsman I'm coming down under in March to work for a few weeks.... wallaby stew? Very tempting. :D

Thanks for the welcome fellows.

Thanks again for the kind words, I'm glad you like my photos!
I can't wait to ride and get many photographs of the 9T with various backgrounds all over the place...

9T33, Thanks! that photo was taken while crossing the Cascade Mountains heading to Bend, OR from the coast... in January 09'. The stupid things guys will do to go meet a girl and get laid. :D
Chains required signs up, the road was solid ice with gravel on top and it was 10º. Serious pucker factor, cold as **** but quite exciting and I got a memorable photo out of the experience. ( and the girl) Pretty dumb, but I had the right gear for it and managed not to crash.
Doubt I'll be doing that on a 9T, I have dual sport bikes now for more extreme adventures, but you never know.

cherry street, yes I pre-ran the Baja 1000 solo, camping on the trail on the adventure but I didn't race it, though after I did the 1100 mile course in 3.5 days I thought I should try someday. Fast racers do it in 20 hours though... I'm no racer by any means. I did get to be part of a pit crew for the race, on the way back north from La Paz, now that was cool!

By all means Adventure riding is great, you don't need a $20K GS or KTM, as the official BMW R9T video shows the guys riding it on gravel roads just goes to show you don't need a specialized bike to get off the beaten path, any bike will do. My R1200R has tens of thousands of miles on gravel roads under it's tires. I won't be thrashing the 9T quite like I did the 12R before I bought DS bikes, but exploring off the pavement leads to much better places for camping and photos IMHO. :D
Anyone who's interested in Adventure riding, go check out Adventure Rider Motorcycle Forum, beware it's addictive...

On a more important note, I went in to my local dealer and am now 7th in place for a 9T! :D:D:D
It's official.
They said the first couple of allotted bike will be coming in soon and once they arrive they will be able to put in their orders for "sold" bikes. I won't get a timeframe for a couple weeks at least. Going to be a long spring waiting on my new bike... good thing there's plenty of you guys that will be posting photos soon enough to hold me over!

Haha, no, no knobbies for my 9T, though I do like the scrambler look I've been seeing around.
The fact of the matter, in my opinion, tires are only one aspect of what makes a bike handle better when off tarmac. Wheel size, suspension geometry and travel, weight and the motor all play a role in how a bike will handle when off tarmac.
With a little 17' front wheel, super wide rear and being about 500 pounds plus a powerful twin motor (thumpers get much better traction due to the single piston and time in between pulses of power IMHO) the 9T or my current 12R won't get any better off tarmac with a more aggressive tire. The rider makes the difference of what can or can't be done on a bike in the end.
As cool as a set of TKC-80's would look on the 9T, it's not very cost effective for traveling since TKC-80's don't last very long and the size needed for a 9T aren't stocked commonly at bike shops, impossible to find while traveling in other words.
I air down my tires on my 12R when on gravel, running about 25psi rear and 22 front, that helps some and can be easily reversed when I get back on tarmac.

Scrambler 9T would look pretty cool though. :)

This is my partner Nancy, she's the new owner of my 12R ( as soon as the 9T comes) ;)

addendum; congrats to Nancy, my missus inherits my 'C' (she's keen to step up from her Virago 535) too ... must be a BMW fan thing, we don't sell out - we merely keep it to be inherited ... for family ....:D
