I just purchased and installed the daedalus tail light. looks beautiful, but I have a problem...
2 of the bolts got stripped, correction, the female ends on the bike got stripped. I cant believe BMW would machine such crappy threads. I really didnt ratchet the bolts that tight. I guess my only solution is retap the threads and install a different bolt.
Any other suggestion....

Re-tapping is probably the simplest solution, but it depends on if the Daedalus kit will accept larger diameter bolts, or will allow bigger diameter holes to be drilled.

Another solution would to install threaded inserts in the bike frame allowing the original bolts to fit. This might be more involved but would keep the bike bolts a stock size.

Daedalus themselves might have advice they can give you.

The "B-man" is correct, the best thing to do is re-tap. I would go with a 6mm. I've got the Daedalus too and it'll accept a larger bolt without any issues.

Spoon and Baldydave are right, your best bet to salvage that would be to drill and tap new threads into the frame.

The OEM bolts are M5's if I remember correctly, so going up to an M6 should do the trick. The holes in the mounting plate of our kit should be able to receive a larger bolt. If for some reason they are too small, it's just aluminum, drills very easy if need be!

Sorry to hear about your troubles
