Had some ominous remarks form my dealer recently. I know when I called to place a deposit I was told I was the first, but when I asked about how many orders they'd had and where I was in the queue, he said 11 and that I was "right up there".
After asking around, it seems there are some 'preferred' customers in my area, some of the better known local figures having joined the order list . . .

before picking up my 2014 GS I turned down the opportunity to buy the first 2014 HP4 Competition at my dealer. As you know that is the hottest bike BMW has sold perhaps ever. My dealer would only would get for them, each sold only for MSRP, which is $25,000.00 USD. some dealers would charge 10 or $15,000 more. I turned down the bike because I wouldn't ride it to even 2% of its potential. I was sad about it, especially when it came in and a friend of mine bought it because it is certainly the sexiest bike I've ever seen.

my point in telling you this is that I was on that list for many, many months and everyone knew whose name was at the top of the list and not one time did anyone offer me anything to replace me in line. So I don't think anyone is going to be offering something to any of us to replace us in a line for the R nineT.

One would think, if you put your deposit down, that has preference. Money talks. IMHO, they should have told you about "preferred" customers ahead of time. Thats just good business. If that happens or happened to me, and someone cuts in front, I would be furious. That would not be good for me, or for the dealer. As I have said before, I've been out of the Bike culture for years. I have been, or currently am, on the boards and active in three of our well known German Auto brand clubs in our state. I also tend to have a big mouth when crossed!

It's not a limited one off Ferrari is it so I can't see this happening in the uk
Saying that I haven't had cash pass my hand to move aside or been told I've been pushed down the line for someone with a bigger wallet ,I'm getting mine in march and that'll do for me

I agree completely with you.
I believe there will be a single bike delivered to anyone before the last week of February, anywhere on the face of the earth... for SALE, that is.

perhaps there will be some moto-journalist – introduction at some location before then. There is no evidence that will occur for this bike

I've spoken to 2 dealers here in Queensland Australia. The first one new little of the nine T, and I found Myself sharing My acquired knowledge with them. I actually felt embarrassed for them! The second dealer certainly new a lot more, but in no way was there any urgency with regard to orders or deposits etc. I'm waiting until the new year to get Our names (wife and I) on any sought of list. I would be keen to hear how other Aussies have got on?

Who really knows?

I have put a deposit down because I wanted some certainty.

Some days after that I asked my dealer what number I was in the queue and was told (early November) that BMW Australia at that time had received about 30 deposits.

I have no idea how many will be in the first shipment or how many shipments or if there is any accuracy to what I have been told?

If my Dealer would not be able to give me a machine, though signed per-contract, he will see once my back and then never ever anything of me....

I gave great consideration to Your comment about having some certainty Petrichor! And as a result have put a deposit down at a Brisbane dealership. Phew! That's that done. Now we wait!
