I have received the updated DL04 from Germany and I have installed it today. I had a play with it (not road tested yet), and I can report that everything is as expected:

You can now:

  • Switch between mph and kmh;
  • Set a shift warning light at your favourite revs;
  • Set your favourite unit for fuel consumption, choosing between MPG (US), MPG (UK), km/L and L/100km.

I am happy with it now, I just want to take it for a ride and check that everything is working as intended.

Did you get stung by customs shipping to and from the UK?

An update on this. Upon test riding the new DL04 it was apparent that the software needs some corrections. Feedback was sent to KOSO Taiwan and they are looking into it. They said they’ll need 2 weeks to sort it out. Meanwhile my unit is back in the box and ready to go back to Germany. I would advice whoever is planning to buy one in the UK to hold on until this is sorted

Any specifics about the software that you think needs addressing?

I have received the update DL04 and I have road tested it. Here are the main points to report:
  • The speed is correct both in km/h and mph (checked against the GPS);
  • You can flip between kmh and mph by pushing the MENU button until you get to the odo reading, then holding the MENU button up, and at the same time flick the High beam button;
  • The shift light works as intended. You can change the revs at which the red warning lights starts blinking. This is done by holding the hazard light+high beam together;
  • The engine temperature can be changed from Celsius to Fahrenheit. To flip between the two, hold the MENU button up, then high beam;
  • The fuel consumption can only be displayed in MPG (UK). Unfortunately the change to km/l or l/100km proved difficult.
I am now happy with my unit, hopefully this update will be rolled out soon. Thanks to @Reak Wu at Koso Taiwan for his understanding and perseverance, and Herman and Ralf for sorting this out and organizing the logistics and the shipping.

I found this thread by accident and I can’t say how excited I got. Unfortunately holding trip and flicking the high beam didn’t do anything. I do find it weird the speed is in metric while consumption and temperature are in imperial. Anyways I will be contacting koso and seeing what they can do. I bought this from DK so hopefully they can help me out

Yes it won’t work in yours because it will need a firmware update. I think you’ll have to send it to Germany for that. The consumption in MPG annoys me too, I think it’s not entirely in the hands of KOSO though, for what I understood it’s more of a ECU signal issue. But at least we have km now

It won’t have this upgrade unfortunately. I’d contact KOSO and see if you can get it updated before the bike comes?
It came straight from Koso, freshly manufactured,.... why wouldn't have the upgrade on it?

I got it installed now, will try and see if I can switch between the various settings. There is nothing in the manual though that states how to do it!!

No the manuals are old. All you have to do is display the total mileage (by pushing up the Menu button). Then hold the upper menu button, and at the same time flash the high beam button. You should see the km becoming miles or vice versa
