I asked my dealer about pricing and allotment numbers. He said:

Still under what BMW calls an “Information Embargo”. We check every day! Also no information on allocation other than broad brush statements that it will be a very limited one time production.

Thats basically the same told to my dealer. All he can see so far, is the allocation of 2, in March. The main BMW guy looks at me, and says "don't be surprised if its a bit earlier."

That about what my dealer here in Maine said as well. They are only getting one bike on the first shipment (mine) :) they didn't really have any more to tell me than I already knew. They also seemed to think that it would be in by march or possibly sooner and that the price would be pretty reasonable (depending on your definition)

How positive are you about a one time production run? I mean BMW has never mentioned anything about a limited run officially, a few of the guys on here are more than positive there will be a 2015 NineT as well.

Especially if NineT takes off (like it has judging by here) BMW has a legitimate cash cow on their hands with almost no development costs sunk, as a parts bin bike its pure profit.

I just don't see BMW giving up that kind of margin...

No idea, but multiple dealers getting this from BMW seems stronger evidence than "a few guys on here". Not all companies are pure money whores. Many auto and motorcycle companies have issued commemorative or limited edition models, perhaps followed up by something similar. Keeping my fingers crossed that this one is truly a limited, one time only, thing.

Plus, they might be using up the oil heads on this one and going with the new "kinda water cooled" version on everything else from now on. It would be smart to use up the old motors on something that's going to fly out the door.

they're not being money whores if they are selling an enthusiast product with sky high demand. Just because someone makes a profit and continues to do so does not make them money whores, it makes them intelligent business people.

Do you think a cash strapped company is going to come out with unique enthusiast driven products? NOPE, they're going to prim and scrimp until they eventually sell you a DIY motorcycle hobby kit wheels not included.

But agreed, this will likely be the last of the air heads.

Although that would be cool to own a limited production run bike like the ninet, I think we might just end up seeing a 2015 or even 2016. Seems like the ninet is gaining lots of traction just depends which route bmw wants to go. Limited run to be exclusive or continuing to make profits.

R nineT info

x2

Getting tired of the lack of info. even the official website doesn't have much. It takes very little time to go through all the content they have
I work for a dealer. If there are any specific questions or concerns, I'd be happy to do some legwork for you. Just a note: I'm hearing 1200 units will come to the U.S. for 2014.

That's very encouraging. Any idea how the bikes are allotted to the dealers Motoman32?

R nineT distribution

Usually, they distribute based on demand. When the S1000 RR was launched, they used pre-orders to determine that number. If there's a similar bike, or if it's a new version of an existing model (Water-cooled GS for example), they based it on how many of that particular model were sold the previous year by the each dealer.

With the R nineT it's a bit of a mystery. BMW NA is in New Jersey. So in theory, the East Coast could get theirs first due to proximity. And bad weather could delay delivery to other parts of the country. The West Coast is a huge market with great weather. So if they want them on the road and visable, they'll get a good number of them headed our way. But I don't think they'll use 2013 sales of the R1200 R as a template. I imagine pre-deposits might sway their decision.
