I'm a forum member of the BMWLT site, and they said to come check out this forum, so I did. Looks like the R NineT is going to be a popular bike for BMW, if it's as versatile as it appears.
Started my Beemer ownership journey with a new '86 R65 Mono and have had three RT's since then. This past weekend I traded my '12 R1200RT to a friend for his well farkled 04 R1150RT. Sounds backwards, but he wanted a new RT and I wanted to get rid of the payment. The deal made us both happy.

What do you mean by it sounding backwards?
Most owners move from an older bike to a newer one, which I originally did. I traded an 03 1150 for the new 1200. Didn't feel that the 1200 was worth the payment, so traded to my friend for his 04 1150. That's what was meant by backwards.
As to purchasing a NineT:
I've been waiting for months for the new Yamaha FZ-09 to hit. A roadster that uses a triple with 115HP and weighs 414lbs wet. Half the cost of the NineT, but now I'm unsure which way to go. Guess time will tell. tp

The FZ-09 is nice but im waiting on something bigger and better from Yamaha. The NineT is more along the lines of what I want, plus there just something special about the NineT that i dont think can be found in a Yami
