Had her out for 30 miles (dealership to work, backroads).

Strongest initial impressions:

Much prettier in person that in pictures.

Compared to my most recent bikes (K16GT, F800GS, r1200GS), this bike is SMALL. Not uncomfortable (I felt much more cramped on the s1000rr), but just small. Fast, flickable, great breaking, but I look over the instrument box and still can't see the front wheel. Compared to the bikes above, I feel like I'm sitting on a skateboard. (I'm 6'3", 185 lbs). This will be a great bike for day rides, putting around town, short trips down HWY 1, but I can't see this bike for long trips (even if I were to commit sacrilege and put bags and shield on). My 2 cents, YMMV.

Yeah, I sat on mine this week, picking up tomorrow. But I'm only 5'9" and it felt perfect.
BUT, I ride my 98 RT1100 ALOT, and its a BEAST ( I do love the cr*p outta it still tho) but after getting off that and onto the 9T... SKATEBAORD TIME!!

BUT oh such a sweet little scoot. Yeah.

Worth the Wait

I got the call yesterday afternoon letting me know that my bike was ready and I could pick it up anytime. I haven't had a bike for the past few years. I've wanted to get something, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Until I saw the first picture of the nineT last year. I've been excited to get it, but it's been agony for the past 2 weeks as some of them have been delivered.
After picking it up, it was absolutely worth the wait. The bike is fantastic. I looks great, feels great, and sounds great. After reading all of the reviews, and seeing the initial pictures, it lives up to its billing. Its a looker! I did have a couple swarmers on the ride home and even caught a guy snapping a pic at a stoplight.
This is my first BMW motorcycle. The boxer sticking out is a little different for me at first, but I love the motor. The suspension is really good for me. Like I said, I haven't ridden for a few years, so I haven't been pushing it, but solid in the corners and soaks up small bumps just fine. I've only had sport and dirt bikes, so I'm used to a sportier setup.
As far as changes to the bike go. The mirrors will be one of the first to go. I haven't liked them in the pictures, and they don't look as bad in person. However, it's hard to see around my arms/shoulders while riding. The US taillight is also not so bad in person, but I want to clean up that along with the license plate holder. I'm hoping to find some sort of rear wheel hugger for the plate and hopefully something more integrated for the light. I want to change out the exhaust, really for looks only. The stock sound is really good. Better than the youtube videos, but I like seeing that rear wheel hub. If there was something like the exhaust on the Panigale for this, that is what I'll go with. I'm on the fence about the high-mount Akra.
I wouldn't want the bike to be any smaller. It's not too small, but I'm 6'1" 185lbs, and I could see that it might feel a little small for some of the bigger guys.
I took a couple of pictures this morning, and tried putting a link at the top of this post. Not sure I did it right. Congrats to those who have their bikes or are picking them up this weekend! For those of you still waiting. I'm pretty sure you will be glad you did.
