I saw the Nine T at the Long Beach show last night, and it looks even better in person.

I'm in my late 50's, have been riding since I was 12, and have had at least one boxer since 1976. I currently have a 1978 R100S with an RS fairing, which I bought new and it has 120k on it. I have a 2002 BMW R1150R that I also bought new, currently with 38k on it. I rode that one from SoCal to Nebraska on the scenic route with my then 12 year old son on the back, which was a lifetime memory we still talk about. I have soft bags, a tank bag and a speedster screen on the 1150, and it's my idea of a proper touring bike. And it has a set of Ohlins suspension too.

I've raced pavement and MX back in the 70's, have owned Brit bikes old and new, a couple 750K's and have a long standing love for 90's Ducatis. I have a 1992 900 SS, in charcoal black that I bought new, it currently has 44k and many mods. Lastly, I own an original Ducati 955SP, which is so raw, smooth, visceral and engaging all at the same time I have trouble finding the words to describe it. And no my back does not get sore riding it. I've owned it for five years and still can not believe my good luck that my wife bought it for me.

From the above, you can tell I buy few bikes and keep them a very long time. As I plan to with a Nine T.

I live in SoCal (San Juan Capistrano) with my wife and 8 year old daughter. I've surfed and ridden motorcycles since I was 12, and have no reason to ever stop.

Cheers, Mark

Welcome Mark.

Surfing and riding go hand in hand in my opinion, right on!
Your wife buying you a bike is rad for sure, its pretty cool you keep hold of them for a while too. 128K is a testament to engineering I'd like to see Ducati match though :)

You guys are lucky you have favourable weather for custom machines, look forward to see what you have in mind

Seems like for someone of your height and weight that you're comfortably seated on the bike.
Fit like a glove! On my 1150r I had to put bars on that are slightly lower and narrower. On the Nine T I don't think I'll need to. I will probably add a flyscreen for the 2 to 4 day trips I manage to get in maybe three times a year.

With respect to your trips: Are you planning to sort out some type of luggage rack/pannier customization, or will you go with the tank and rear bags offered by BMW?

Hey Mike, been away for a few days.

I'll probably get the BMW tank bag, and work something else out for a tail-pack, or possibly soft bags.
Thanks for sharing that. I'm still fishing for ideas, because there will be times when I need to haul a fair amount of gear. I'm still leaning toward a luggage rack behind a single seat and side cases. But I'll probably have to live with the rear seat bag until something presents itself (or I get someone to build me something).:(

Thanks, and greetings across the Pacific. That's a really insightful thing to say, as I really do enjoy myself. I don't mean this in a smug way at all, I'm just darn lucky in almost every part of life, knock on wood of course.

M & M, no pictures handy, but I do have a link to the weekend of the 15th on Palomar mountain, riding "The Pace". It's a basic 1150R with Ohlins both ends, lower/narrower bars, and a Sebring Y-pipe that made a noticable improvement in sound, torque, and turn-in. And the reason I bought it was so I wouldn't have the heat generating Cat converter right underneath the gearbox.
