BMW Scrambler Forum

I've been looking at some of the R80 and R100 custom scramblers and I think this would be an interesting adaption for my Nine T (I have the 2nd deposit at BMW Manhattan). Questions for others who might be considering something similar:

1. Would you put narrower wheels on the front and back - I was thinking 2.5 in the front and 3.5 in the back (with maybe 120 and 140 knobby tires)
2. Would you increase suspension travel front and rear - since I'm a GS rider now the Nine T seems a little low to the ground - maybe go to 165 mm front and rear assuming it wouldn't mess up the angles
3. What else would you do

Looking forward to the journey.

I wouldn't do anything like that  I would just go and purchase a 800GS and enjoy it for what it was built for ;):D
Each to their own but why spoil such a fantastic designed bike  yes you can of course it's your purchase but why not just buy a bike that'll ride how you want it to without creating a monster ;):D

I hear you Bose - but I've always preferred a smaller wheel and tire - I don't see the need for a 5.5 inch wheel with a 180 tire.

As for the increased suspension - I'll think more on that. I don't like the 800 GS and I guess I'm looking for a change from my 1200 GS. I'd like to do some light off-road riding - fire roads mostly - maybe the 4.7 inches is enough (although I do feel an extra 1 1/2 inches would be ideal).

Gerry - thank you, I really like the tank on that one. I don't understand the wide wheel on the front or back - I would go with something smaller.

That tank in blue with a flat seat, narrower wheels, that would be a great looking bike.

if he is willing to answer ; wrote already in french and english. No reaction so far:mad:
I'm afraid he's only making one of a kind bikes and is not interested in series of stand alone pieces.

I wrote some time ago to RSD to know when we can expect some of the stuff he used on the R90S. Never had an answer.

Cherry Street - how much would you raise the rear height? I sat on the bike and it feels a little low for me - probably because I've been riding a GS for the past few years. I feel like an extra 1 to 1.5 inches front and rear would be great. Do you think raising the height would have a negative impact on handling?
