I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that conversion price.

My dealer is sticking with the BMW-generated information that the price will be less than an R1200R Classic. I was recently looking at a 2013 model with just a few add-ons, and it was priced a bit over $16000, if I recall correctly.

(and with at least a $1500 rebate being waved under my nose, I was very tempted...fortunately it sold this past week so I can go back to focusing on the nineT)

With an $18,700 MSRP, this will easily be a bike that passes the $20k mark once you get the OTD figure. Still worth it IMO but this new pricing info feeds into info about it being limited production
the bike won't sell for that price
it will be LESS than the R1200R, like promised
trust me... it'll have a BASE MSRP of $14,999.00

I truly hope your right Greg. I'll end up buying a ducati if the nine T sells for 18k
BMW has built a great retro bike. Those of us who are been buying bikes and watching the pricing structure for decades know that there is no way you can compare pricing in any given country by just doing a simple exchange rate calculation.

Also, they have promised the bike will be less than $15,000 because there is no way they can charge the money stated at the top of this thread for a bike that has no "typically-BMW" technology except for electronic engine management when it compares the pricing structure of its other motorcycles and what they offer in the way of ESA, etc.

I'm sure the truth about the pricing structure of the United States of America will come to light long before the end of this calendar year and perhaps as early as by the end of next week.

In the US, don't forget the added Destination fee, and the sales tax in many states. That adds up. In Indiana, that 14,999 ends up being over 16,000 before options. I agree with Greg, in that it will be listed around 15,000 before the additional fees. If we first adopters are offered options on our build, my guess is mine will run 17-18 with the rear comfort seat, center stand if offered, duffle, and alarm. I'm on the fence on the tank knee pads. The tank looks so clean and well done, but the older BMW's like I had, had the knee pads, and I liked them.

I can hardly believe, that the end price without taxes and options can be under 15 k.
Why ? Because the price in Germany is 12180 Euros exclusive VAT, which is ~16500 $ without shipping to US.

I have seen for many bikes that US prices are lower than in Europe also comparing tax-less prices. Curious if it will be less than the German 12.180,- euro . Pity that Belgium is 500 euro more expensive than Germany. Holland will charge you Euro 16.800 because of a luxury tax on vehicles and bikes.

You are correct in that I was only talking about the sticker price. I know that I will buy that aluminum hump and one of the aftermarket exhaust options and I am sure that my out the door price will be closer to $20,000. If the sticker price were $18,500 for this particular bike BMW would have trouble selling in the United States. Nostalgia only gets you so far in this economy

There are 1 million products which end up costing more in their country of origin than in other countries even after being shipped. This is not unique to motorcycles or automobiles. Over the years the people in Germany have often paid a lot more money for BMW motorcycle than we have in the United States for whatever reason. That would not be uncommon at all as ridiculous as it sounds.
