Oil and Water

Can someone post a brief explanation of the perceivable differences riding a oil/air cooled boxer vs. the newer water cooled motors?

I'm not asking about the technical operational facts between the two types of motors but rather about the differences in the way the two engines feel to the user.

I've heard that the oil/air provides a different kind of feedback (more vibration, noise, and general tactile elements) vs the newer water cooled engines (smoother, less pulsing, etc....).

My general sense is that the air-cooled engines have more "character" but this is vague and I would love to hear more details about this distinction, especially concerning the nineT.

The only true way to find out as everyone has different views on this subject is go and try one of the last oil cooled twin cams if you can ,then throw your leg over a LC GS an you'll have your answer ,yes their very different and I'm for old over new without doubt :D:D (character ?? Tonnes of it );):)
