Hi, got a broadcast email today from BMW Motorrad Australia this afternoon (not from my dealer) amongst other things it says:
"We just wanted to let you know we’ve got four new models arriving in dealerships this month and we’re very excited to show them off.

The water-cooled R 1200 RT and R 1200 GS Adventure are now available for test rides, while the two new roadsters – S 1000 R and R nineT – will arrive in stores from March 22.

See below for more information about these models, why not book in for a test ride and be one of the first to see how well they perform."

And specifically on NineT:
"Sometimes less is more, the feeling a bike can give you just feels right.

It’s everything a classic should be and more. The new BMW R nineT combines stunning looks, powerful performance and a throttle that never fails to deliver.

Every detail of the motorcycle draws the eye, and practically every detail can be personalised, which makes it perfect for riders who like to do things differently.

With a sophisticated adjustable rear frame and extensive customisation options, the R nineT is a machine with a personality.

Available at your BMW Motorrad dealer from 22 March."

With a button to book a test ride - I would just like to get the bike I have a deposit down on - the bike lol !

I got the same email:) However, Our dealer doesn't seem to be able to give an accurate date:( And What exactly are You going to be able to ride??? By all accounts, all the bikes are spoken for, and the staff are forbidden to purchase until 2015! Mean while, We've got dudes in the states that now have machines that qualify as pre owned:D What a bloody fiasco:mad: How long have these people been going at this? 90 years has been sprooked a fair bit. Joke!!!!

I'm with you Chumba. WTF is BMW playing at? Are they hoping for frenzied Buyers queuing up expectant at 8.30 on the 22nd?

I can see the headlines now... BMW released four new models at dealers today. Leads to panic. German economy in good shape. Australian balance of payments shifts.

C'mon as Lleyton would say! Just release the bikes. They're gathering dust and taking up space in the warehouse.

Give us kids our toys !!!

They wanted to have a demo for AgFest in May (3 day show) ... maybe I can wrangle something out of them for loaning them mine ..... (yeah right) .... they say shipped bike crates will arrive in Melbourne at about 15th March, shipping to Tassie will take another week, I've booked holidays and of March to get my 8 days riding in .... :D

As some of you may know I do work at a BMW Motorrad Dealer. The email you received is true, Bikes will be available from the 22nd and Dealers will have a Demo that wont be for sale.

Chumba - Where did you get your facts from?? All the bikes are not spoken for, we work on month to month allocation, If demand out weighs allocation we simply ask Germany for more.

The reason why some dealers are vague on details is because Germany is too! Take the HP4 for example, some customers still can't comprehend that it's "order only".

If you have more questions please send me a message.

Hope this helps guys!

heard the same

Hey Guys,
Marc here from Brisi... Ordered and put deposit down at the end of January.

Last week my dealer told me exactly the same. Bikes will arrive in Melbourne on the 15th and then a week later here in Brisbane. The second shipment will be in May/June.

My dealer is getting three bikes. One is mine, one for another customer and a demo.

No exact pick up date yet tho, however he said that I can most likely take delivery on the weekend where the MotoExpo is on. That's where they will reveal the NineT to the public.

So that goes with what Hunstman mentioned above. Around a week after they arrive in Melbourne.

Fingers crossed.

I'm also in a german NineT forum and the first guys there have already taken delivery of their Ninerz. It's all pretty exciting seeing their posts. Everyone is like little boys before Xmas.

I have to actually admit that I do somehow like the secrecy around the release date. It's kind a fun to be excited about something no one has really seen or touched yet. Plus all the reports are really positive... everyone that got one so far loves them... so I'm happy to wait for the end of March.

All the best to you guys, and happy days waiting!
Marc

Thanks. 9tee and Marc. I concur Marc. It's kinda exciting and frustrating simultaneously having the deposit down, sold my existing BMW and getting so excited about when to pick it up Znd pay which will be the first time I see it ..
And 9tee to be fair the expectation set with me back in October was late march early April but with other bikes on the road get a bit exited lol

To quote Myself, My statement read "By all accounts". By definition, this means (that up until Your post) on the very sketchy and minor amount of information that has been supplied to Us, the dealers were not being supplied a demonstrator. You ask where I got my information. The answer is mostly from this forum, and very little from the dealer. If in fact the dealers have not been given much information from Germany, this does little to relieve the frustration. In the main, in My humble opinion to which I am entitled, the whole release has been handled in a less than professional manner. If Germany is vague on details, then why? That's just My opinion:) More explanation on a more regular basis from a reliable source, may have adverted these feelings.;)

9TEE, there is a MotorcycleNews You Tube review of the NINET launch in Mallorca (from Jan is my recollection) on this forum, as part of the review towards the end the journalist says all 2014 stock sold out and BMW employees need to wait to 2015 to purchase is my clear recollection.

And a quick question from me pls:
Do you know if the bikes for OZ at towards end of this month, are like the pic on the BMW Aus website or like the ones we are seeing on here for our US freinds - that is what tail light configuration are we getting US or European. I vote European of course !!!

What, no dancing girls, no stripper jumping out of the box . . :D
Cmon BMW, how about some pizzaz. :p
Interestingly, there's a gal at my dealer, that works in service. I think she signs bikes in, etc. I've personally seen her start and ride all kinds of bikes from the lot into the garage. She was walking through the very back building, where they bring in the new bikes, and i asked her if she'd sat on the NineT yet. She said they wouldn't even let her sit on it LOL. I said BS, and told her to come over and sit and check it out as much as she wanted. (****, I've paid for it) She's obviously more experienced with bikes than me, so go for it! She likes it a LOT. BTW, she drives a Thruxton.

…and here she is!

The BMW R NineT has arrived in Brisbane! Not officially tho

I only went to the dealership to drop off a magazine the dealer lent me.

When I entered the showroom he came towards me and said “I was about to give you a call! Have a look Marc, here she is” pointing to the R NineT they just prepared for the MotoExpo next weekend.

Instantaneously I knew that my decision to order this bike un-seen, un-driven and without any available reviews was the absolute correct one. It is ‘the bike’ for me.

I always loved the XJR 1300 with its smooth lines and the powerful engine and for me the R NineT is the perfect merge of such smooth lines and the BMW Boxer-engine… love it!

So if everything goes to plan I’ll have to take my money in next week and get a beautiful motorcycle in return… guess who’s excited!?!

Yeah, the tail lights is (from what I was able to tell besides constantly licking the tank) something that can easily be fixed.

Either with a bent piece of aluminium or even with something like this

Found that one here : Fender Eliminator

not sure about the measurements of those three holes at the top part, but the nine T has a very similar looking triangle of holes that holds the original tail-light.

Its not gonna be a big deal.

Dropped into the Beamer dealership yesterday morning on the off chance they may have one out back ready for the expo...... It was out on the show room floor ! I couldn't believe my luck. Spent about an hour dribbling saliva all over it, crawling around on the floor , sitting on it ( couldn't kick her over so was making imaginary bike noises in my head ). At 181cm I was worried it would be a little small, but it was just right with the right lean onto the bars.
Dealer said that there will be test rides available after the expo. He has taken a few deposits and says they go month by month so hopefully that gives me a bit more time to work on the " Minister of Finance ". I am slowly wearing her down but only partly successful in getting her to forget all the other things the $$$ could ( should ) be spent on. He said I should drop the $500 deposit soon though.
Man I want it bad !! It was a perfect fit !!
