Required documents and where to keep them?

Maybe this is a question for those of us in the States, but I have seen conflicting information on what documents to always have while riding (i.e. registration, proof of insurance) and then also where to keep them. Do y'all keep them in a pocket while you ride in case you get stopped and need them, or do you keep them on the bike? The only place that I could find on the bike was in a ziplock bag under the pillion seat but even that was so small it was pushing it to get them to fit.

Thanks!

WA allows electronic photos, and since they simply scan bar codes on the docs, you don't surrender your device. (Don't start out with a low charge.)

I like the digital storage idea. Since law enforcement already has those records on their devices, the only time they can't look all of it up themselves is when they are in range of cell towers. It seems archaic to require us to still carry those documents. IMO, law enforcement should bear the burden of showing we don't have the authorizations.

If you can take pics and show the officers those, that's probably the easiest way. People always have their phones with them
I do have mine on my phone. This another alternative from Biltwell

In the Netherlands you are obliged to carry your driver's license with you when in a car (and an ID, which the driver's license is). You also must carry the reggo card. These are now credit card sized cards. And they have to be the originals, copies or scans are not accepted and when stopped you may get fined!

Not mandatory is proof of insurance (the "green card"), but I always carry this too. Just handy to have available.
I always carry the documents in my inner jacket pocket.
Same here... I keep both Registration and insurance coverage there... additionally, I take advantage of my RoadID bracelet that provides Paramedics with access to my medical history

A stash tube that bolts behind license plate
I have a zip-loc bag in the Racer's hump for that sort of thing.
It must be a ‘merikan thing…. But what’s wrong with your jacket pocket?

In my case, it is because I have more than one bike. It's much easier to have the registration and insurance info for that particular bike stored on the bike, so I don't have to remember to bring it along.

I have three vehicles, one car, two bikes. I keep all of my registrations in my wallet with my license, etc, as I know I will always have that with me . And then my insurance is in an app on my phone which again is always with me
