There is no competition to Ninet.

Ducati Scrambler, Triumph Thruxton, Indian FTR, Moto Guzzi V7/V9 etc.

All of them are just below Ninet.

Ninet = 1200cc /110HP (euro4), 17L Steel Tank provides good range (18L? aluminum), wired throttel (euro4)*, dry clutch (clean oil for motor and not mixing with gearbox etc), cardan/bevel transmision (not dirty chain), 180mm rear tire, alloy rims or tubeless spoke rims (UGS even new Roadster euro5?), 320mm brake discs, Brembo brake-calipers, self supporting trellis chassis. Single swingarm (Beautiful wheel view)...etc

There is no bike with all of this on the whole.

Then Ninet is not only a beautiful bike. It´s enough fun, enough easy, enough comfortable. It is a well balanced bike. You can use for commuting, for travelling or what ever you want.

The only real limit is pillion. But others kind of classics bikes have the same problem.

*New electronic throttel euro5 Ninet I recognized don´t like. I think Ninet lost a bit of his essence and soul but in the end I will choose Ninet again because others bike have already electronic throttel too.

The whole "this bike is better than that bike" discussion is purely for an expression of an individual's opinion. I have always compared motorcycles to women in that regard, justification of what or who you are attracted to can never be achieved in pragmatic terms. We have a saying in Australia , "it's all about the vibe".
I think like you do Vagueout, it’s how I feel on the bike at 100, this machine feels solid. The vibration ..the reaction to my movements in the saddle, everything I’m feeling gives me 👍. I twist her wrist a bit and she’s right there... I love this bike. Low center of gravity and plenty of torque make it a pleasure every time I mount up for thrill... is she expensive ? Some would say yes ... I however got exactly what I paid for. No regrets at all. ....Blitz

Funny you mention the VFR, another of my favorite overall bikes. I had a 4th gen 1994 model that I wish I still had. I bought it instead of the Ducati SS that I really wanted at the time. Even back then I knew the VFR was the objectively better, more responsible choice, but the Duc was the one I fantasized about. Couldn't really afford either at the time, but knowing what I know now, I really, really couldn't have afforded the Ducati back then. The VFR was flawless, and there was nothing to do other than ride it. After finally getting a couple of Euro bikes with "character", I've come to realize that term is really just a way of euphemizing design quirks and shortcomings that need to be worked around or addressed. None of the Hondas I've had really needed much improvement, so they never occupied my thoughts when I had them the way some of these Euro bikes do. But when you finally get things sorted out on a flawed bike, you develop a personal connection that makes that bike yours and yours alone.
You nailed it Simon, that personal connection with an inanimate object that only certain people feel for what ever reason .... it’s personal ! It’s awesome ! Unrequited love ......until you twist her wrist and she carry’s you to the edge with ease and says, “OK Big boy let’s see how well you can handle me” .... that’s how she returns your devotion and brings you home with a smile on your face ...so you can do it all over again tomorrow, you lucky man ! Man, I’m with you all the way Lelc2. I just never saw NOT being able to have a passenger as a diss-advantage … Heck, I often use it as an excuse to refuse to ride someone. This is not a motorbike to take a date for a drink or across country … this bike (Blitz) rides only one ….ME…. That’s part of the thrill. I ride completely different with a passenger than I do solo … that’s WHY I ride solo. I guess if you pick any bike you can find some rider that fits it perfectly, well that’s how the 9T fits me … almost out of the crate from day 1, a few ergonomic modifications and were good to go. I love this bike … she’s number 14 and the last in a long line of oil dripping loud engine popping fast as lightning two wheeled death traps as I’ll ever have the pleasure of risking my neck to sit on and hold on too…. Nicest machine I’ve ever owned or ever will. BeWell but have fun, time is shorter than you think. ….Blitz

The only big no I see on the nineT is the lack of instruments.
Come on, no gear indicator, no fuel gauge, no rev, WTF????

My husqvarna Svartpilen has a small round dash (electronic) and all is there.
Ideally, I'll like the analog for the rev, speed/gear/range/fuel on the LCD, there is room for that.
When you decided to buy the less expensive bike BMW had to cut the cost somewhere. All the instrumentation you said you don’t have is on the expensive version, except a gas gage and I don’t fully understand that, your almost sitting on the gas tank. If I’m questioning how much gas I have I just look down the fill spout into the tank. You have a Spartan motorcycle with little to go wrong or break. After you ride for a while you should be able to tell what gear your in just by the way it sounds. Having all those instruments isn’t going to make anyone a better rider, it’s just going to make a more expensive motorcycle that’s boarder-line to much already …..
