Have you tried turning your camera 90º? :icon_scratch:

I think the silver would look more at home with all the other shades of silver already on the bike than the black.

Is that what it is! Great! But unfortunately they start life on my desktop in the correct orientation then once attached display rotated.. Hasn't happened before.

Any tips?
I had to go shopping for some specific items
  • #8 TORX driver, I had to run out to find one in the middle of the work as none of mine were that small to remove the set screw for the switch gear
  • 36mm socket - (i think it is 36) socket for the center nut
  • Torque wrench
  • Jack
  • Carbon Fiber Paste - I had some around, I used this under all the switch gear, helps prevent movement on the carbon bars.

Hardest part is messing around with all the switch gear and raising and lowering the bike to get everything to line up to put the new clamp on. Otherwise, it was less difficult that I expected, but more time consuming than anticipated.

Depending on the year bike you have, you may need to replace the clutch cable, mine hit the speedometer after install and needed to replace it. When I take it to a shop, i will have the throttle cable shortened as well.

Hope this helps.

SP, you need to reduce the tension on the front wheel to easily remove and replace the triple clamp. I used a scissor jack under the bile to lift the bike slightly.

I understand in 2017 BMW changed the configuration of the clutch cable and master cylinder and you shouldn't have any issues there. I used the ABM detailed step by step instruction set for their clip-ons that does a great job of guiding you through the removal of the clamp and has most of the torque specs.

The results will be amazing, both in appearance and riding comfort. I found the bars to be too high and too wide.

One point, before you lock everything down, make sure you have the bars pulled out wide enough so you can turn lock to lock without hitting the tank. I had to adjust mine a bit to keep the switch gear from hitting the tank emblems.

Best of luck, post pictures!

Awesome, thanks Joe.

One more question, when you removed the BMW bar end caps, will they fit in the new carbon bars? I'm running Rizoma one mirrors and plan to keep them, wondering if I need to source different end plugs.

Hey mate, the stock bar ends from my 2015 classic didn't fit the carbon bars. I ended up electing for a new set of mirrors instead, but you might be able to get an adapter piece to fit your rizoma ones.

Same experience, the threaded ends are a no go on the carbon bars. I went with Oberon mirrors that fit the bars and to finish the ends used some Rizoma bar ends.
