Union Garage Tool Roll

Union Garage recently announced the release of this beautiful tool roll based on the BMW factory toolkit:

Union Garage NYC | Union Garage Tool Roll - Accessories

Beautiful and functional, but that is some price. Does anyone know if the nineT is going to come with a toolkit? I assume it is not. I'm in the market for one, but this just seems a bit steep.

I don't see any Torx bits. You'll need 'em.

They say there is "a full set of Torx bits for removing the bodywork from many modern bikes."
looks like there is a snap-pouch behind the hex keys. I bet the torx are in there.
I want one!! Is the price worth the quality? or any others selling cheaper and better quality?
Boys, you're buying a brand new high quality bike.
Within the first two years you are not even allowed to do more than filling up gas, oil and air.
So why think about tools now ?:D

for my R1200GS ;)
My GS is 3 1/2 years old, 137'000 km and I didn't need tools there either..
Just ride it, all day, every day. She will appreciate it...:D
Oh since I am getting a new one and reading on the forums I thought I had to carry a set of tools on me when travelling?
I agree since it is a new bike, but I am planning on heading out on a 3,000 mile trip and think a set of tools would be wise.
I wouldn't be afraid that it is and old bike when you come back. :D

To be honest: What do you want to repair by yourself ?
I don't expect that you will ride 3000 miles offroad in the middle of nowhere with a nineT. So there will be a helping hand/garage close to you.

So please: A little more confidence in this German masterpiece, gents !!

Thanks!
I'm skeptical on the durability of the black coating

They usually do not last very long
I would have preferred chrome. At least you can clean up a polished finish.

NO you wouldn't! :mad::mad::mad:
Not BMW's Chrome! :mad::mad:
you wouldn't prefer that! :mad::mad:

I'm talking from experience. When I bought my 'C' from the dealer, I thought the previous owner was a bit of a grub (and that's saying something - I'm definitely NOT the world's greatest polisher, might have to change though with the R9T :eek:) .... anyway, uh, well I tried to clean up the rims and the chrome was flaking off in chunks. It never occurred to me to inspect the quality of the chrome! Checking out all other chrome bits, one of the side covers the chrome had peeled off to the size of a matchbox and everywhere else it's pitted like ****.

BMW's paint jobs are usually very good, and they're pretty good with aluminium (note the correct spelling here? Ha!) but their chrome is not only sooo many levels below US-standards .... it's completely useless! Most 'C' riders concluded that Euro-environmental regulations are to blame, which seemingly doesn't allow certain chemicals to be used which are vital in the preparation process and undercoating before the final Chroming.

... bit by bit I'm turning the 'C' into a rat-cruiser .... there are some nice examples I can take my cues from ....
