Bored and started playing with ideas for plasti-dipping / wrapping or maybe painting my UGS individual BMW colors... Would love to hear everyone's favorites!
Anyone ever change the color of theirs? What method did you use?

Yea I agree on blacking out the snorkel and other motor bits. Both Dakar & Speed Yellow as well as Sepang Bronze are my favorites. Nardo Grey is interesting as well.

A friend of mine used to have an Urban GS and had it re painted in a nice blue/green petrol color and also had the seat re upholstered in a chalk color. It was a very nice combo!

Otherwise, your Yellow version is quite nice! Maybe try with a kaki or olive green

I would avoid any of those color combinations. They conflict too much with the complimentary orange and blue, which aren't arbitrary either and already a pretty bold combo. Adding a third bright color is like having someone talking to you in person while you're also trying to listen to someone on the phone. It just turns into noise.
If you were my client I would steer you towards a dark blue or red, just to continue the heritage theme with the original R80GS. I'd definitely replace the seat with a black or tan example, they should be easy to find used on ebay, and you said you're bored so I assume you have some free time, and you own a $12k motorcycle, so I assume you can afford to do this right. Right?

Personally I think red is really boring, but a nice deep metallic cherry red is classy af. Red is such cliche color to use for action sports however. The dark blue with those pops of orange is the moneyshot IMO.
Another thing to consider is you could also try color matching Porsche's Crayon:

Heres a much darker example (too dark imo) on an OG/GS:
I wouldn't bother with plastidip, it will rub and peel off within a few thousand miles. You need to apply it very consistently and it really does prefer primer, and primer likes a sanded surface. At that point, why not just use real PPG paint?

Victor, I like your idea of dark blue...The blue chalk Porsche is beautiful I agree, but the grey, off white whatever is just grey ! Not bad but not beautiful either. Maybe some subtitle racing stripes in another complementary grey would offset and take it from dull to dramatic. Color is so personal and subjective anyway. I like how Tommy9T photoshopped it. Cheapest way in the world to see what makes you heart happy. I love seeing riders in colorful leathers that match the paint work on the moto’s. Was just spitballing application options, a friend recently got a larger tank for her UGS so I'm thinking of buying her stock one and painting that. I like talking to people in real life and on the phone at the same time, being loud on the road is good IMOI would avoid any of those color combinations. That grey Dakar is beautiful! I'm a big fan of Nardo grey. I'm going to play with it some more and pull the trigger on a spare tank so I could always go back.
