Thanks for the offer GapRunr, unfortunately they won't fit on the Renthal bars I just installed. On the hunt for a simple weighted pair. I had purchased a set but they are a bit too big as well. The inside diameter of the bar measures 11/16 or 1.5 cm - I'm not sure if that is a nonstandard size? I'm a little surprised the ones I purchased didn't fit.

I bought a 2018 Urban G/S this summer, have already started modifying, and am planning enough additional mods this winter that I think it will qualify as a "build".

Full disclosure, I started working as a sales rep at my local Motorrad dealer in Feb 2019, and that got me off my Ducati and onto "riding the brand".

I've always tried to have one bike that will do everything I need it to do for various reasons - cost of bike ownership, cost of insuring multiple bikes which is significant here, and lack of parking space. And to keep my wife somewhat happy, or at least tolerant of my hobby/passion.

So, what do I need in a bike? It's changed somewhat over the past couple years, as I used to do more camping/touring which required a bigger bike and my last few have fit that bill - Multistrada preceded by Aprilia Caponord preceded by Multistrada (preceded by a string of VFR's). Now I tend to trailer my bike if I'm going a long distance and then do day rides. I need a bike that is good on twisty roads. I need a fun city bike. I need a bike that I love to look at, and that I love to listen to. So far the Urban G/S has ticked all the boxes.

Enough rambling for now - here's where I am at the moment:

Looks like a fun ride.

A pretty expensive little adapter in my opinion - 40 Euros plus shipping. I couldn't find an alternative though, and I know they make a quality piece so probably worth it in the long run. This will extend my front brake line at the reservoir so that I have no issues.

Did you experience the throttle cable being too tight?

It was fairly tight with the riser-fest I installed, and then the wider Renthal bars made it even tighter! I tried to push forward any slack when the tank was off, and it seems to be fine. My mechanic was supposed to check it recently when I had my 20,000 km service, and he didn't say anything. I've probably ridden 2,000 km with it the way it is now, and it seems fine.

Jon.
Nice write up. Now if we can only get a schedule that works, so we can go for a ride. Its been too long since our last ride.
Jay
Hey Jay, I was going to suggest this for some throne reading but you found me! Just got back from an overnight to Orrville, the 518 is closed at Bear Lake so it's like a closed course west of there. Smoked my tires, need to get a new set on this week before I go anywhere, but I'll get in touch soon about a meet-up, I want to see your beautiful new UGS. Hope you're enjoying it!
