Anyway... added some new brake/clutch levers.... just a late night impulsive purchase.... as one does with these bikes... still coming to terms with them.... not a night and day thing.... front brake master cyclinder is the culprate I think... such is life.

Installed an oil pressure gauge, fully aware it’s not really needed if you check your oil level regularly, and it’s not everyone’s taste....that’s ok, I love the look 👀

Center stand coming up next....

Just fell across this thread while investigating oil pressure gages. Long story …. Please alvitdk tell me about this set up … major questions: is that gage and bracket an “X-Ray brand” kit and what year is your bike (is it 2017) ….. where on the engine block do you tie into the oil pressure, can you take a picture or two … I drive a 2015 so I might not be able to make this work out but I want a oil pressure switch ..and I hate the “sight glass”, … might as well be on a lawn mower.

😉 He can’t answer you if you don’t add the @, so…
@alvitdk are you seeing this? (If not, we’ll just visit him, he’s one of the Texas folks close by - and you’ve met him 2 years ago 😉)
Edit: I just found detailed pics on the X-ray site, they say here Oil Pressure Gauge Kit for BMW R nineT family | xrayproject.it only from 2017 models onwards

Thanks for the @ hint, I remember @alvitdk.. I’m a geek and a gear head but fall far short of Nurd. Apple issued me a stupid phone because I couldn’t qualify for a smart one … I read about the 2017 caveat. I’m wondering what they did to the engine? I’ve drilled holes in cases directly into oil pressure lines to add pressure gages. I’m just narrowing down the spot where to drill … if that indeed is the issue. …… Blitz

The gauge should connect to the low pressure warning sensor just above the oil level sight gauge. Have a look at the image here in post 9 Oil pressure warning?
On my 2021 they dispensed with the low oil pressure warning and put a blocking drain bolt in the hole. I removed that and plumbed in a pressure gauge with Goodridge type fittings. There should be no need to drill any new holes.

This past Saturday I had the tachometer installed by the dealer, but have some issues. It’s not registering the speed correctly and looks like it freezes. This is the bike parked and still shows 3mph. Unless I’m missing something, this doesn’t look right. Gonna have to get it back to the dealer!
Didn’t ride more after I got home so installed a few bits: Evotech oil cooler guard, SW Motech engine protector, Unit Garage side bag, and Wunderlich crash bars. Fun to do the mods, but I need to give my wallet a rest. Personal goal: no more mods till after 6K mile service. View attachment 152965

What's your R9T variant?
That's weird, mine is a scrambler, I have the same color scheme but inverted, same tank, black mudguard, red light

I bet I've replaced 50 air filters in the R bikes. Never had a problem. But I think I was a little rough on this one
this is why I don't work on my own bikes.... cost me twice as much and takes three times as long lol

Got my break in service done today, and also had my tail tidy installed. Love how much cleaner the bike looks now. Was actually impressed by how bright the new LED strip is.

I wiil take my bike in for service now and then just to check my work bit I have left dealerships with a busted Sargent seat because of a hasty reinstall by the tech, a fuel line that was not fully attached, valve covers not seated properly , Wrong tires installed, tires installed backwards and Diagnostic plugs hangin hanging down the side. All costing me time and money to remedy.
The thousands I have saved and the mechanical experience gained from DIY maintenance far out ways the $75 spent on a used snorkel. Those basic mechanical skills have been potential lifesavers as well. Repairing chains ,patching tires, cleaning fouled plugs and gas in Africa and Central America.
It can be fun wrenching and I cannot rely solely on my time on the waterfront as my only source that allows me to hone my profanity laced rants and practice for the state tool throwing championship. 😉
