I see most people lift the tank from the front and let it pivot on the rear. What is the best way?

You really have to remove the two front and one rear bolt. It looks like it pivots but it doesn't. You must gingerly coax it out. I can replace the battery and air filter without removing the fuel lines. You just can't be rough. If you meet resistance stop ?

I like that custom tool for holding the lifted fuel tank up, @Baloo ! Is that from Rizoma, Unit Garage, or Wunderlich?

After riding a few fire roads recently, I finally came to a few conclusions - 1. As much as I'd like to plan a trip to Guatemala or the Dempster Highway, I'm not taking that type of trip until my kids are much older; 2. I'll need to invest in a second bike if I ever want to go on any "proper" adventures (maybe an UGS with an upgraded suspension); 3. I didn't buy this bike for adventure riding, I bought it for the simplicity and the "cool" factor, and a big part of me missed the look of the bike without all this stuff.

I'm definitely keeping the scrambler high bench seat, bar end mirrors, center stand and air intake guard, but the rest felt unnecessary for now.

I rearranged the UGS night before last for some camping in the Monongahela national forest in WV. Took the little rack that replaced the riders pilion off and revisited hepco and Becker rear rack. And persuaded the side panniers to Play nice. I had to add some spacers to the bobbins so the bags would clear the rear rack. It was a dirty job with what I had on hand. It's off to the hardware store tomorrow to properly kit it out. The passenger pillion was 200 miles away. Luckily I had a Scrambler seat on the shelf.

Fitted Wunderlich main stand to my Euro 5 bike. They said it was compatible and although tight it went on.

I'm still thinking about removing them but don't want to ruin the sound

If it showed me today's winning lottery numbers instead of the snowflake I would die a poor man. I will never ever ride when it's remotely close enough to trigger that warning. I guess I'm just a spoiled Californian!

Discovered what BMW cram into their little symbols window.

My R Nine T shows a spanner for when the service is due, cruise control activation and a petrol pump when the tank is low. These rotate in succession when the warning is needed.

To add to the symbols it was cold enough yesterday morning to show a snowflake despite it being the end of April. View attachment 153525

Unless things have changed in recent years, the Roadster (called the Classic on this forum) does have that "VIN plate" fitted as standard, but the other models it's an optional accessory. Guess they have to justify the Roadster's premium price somehow.... so guess it was down to the rev counter, VIN plate, USD forks and Alu Tank

I have a urban GS X, not sure what extras that 'x' has, I think it's the heated grips, thicker seat?, Abs?

If I remember correctly the extras included with the 'X' were:-
Heated grips
Chrome Exhaust Headers
Tubless spoked wheels (inc. swap to TKC80 tyres at no cost if requested)
Switchable ASC

Thanks, nice set of extras then. I'm curious are the headers stainless? Non plated would rust instantly surely.
Haven't seen tubed spoked wheels on a UGS

on the R Nine T it looks like it is unfinished or has dropped off.
BMW has fitted a cover on the left hand side

Why have they not on the right hand side?
Is it so Wunderlich can make some more $$/££/€€s?

I stand on the front porch gazing longingly at the Scrambler in the back of truck. We have quite the weather here this weekend. I wanted the bike and the truck in the same location. The truck for spring cleaning And the bike to finish some scheduled maintenance. Unfortunately the Scrambler will stay in the back of the truck until we get a patch of dry suitable enough to ramp it down. My ramps are treacherous when wet. Maybe I'll rough up the ramp treads in the interim.

Since I am stuck at home in quarantine, I got around to putting the Motogadget Blaze Pin indicators on the front. I 3D-printed an adapter for now, but will likely come up with some other approach, since I dislike the stock mount base. I do want them a bit off the radiator though, so this will do for now. These are a PITA to aim when using the stock base. Basically no clearance to hold the nut properly while tightening.

Fitted the Daedalus Classic and a set of Motogadget Blaze Pins...
