What did you do to your R nineT today?

I know it's a cornball topic however this type of thread has been very entertaining and extremely informative on other forums. Our souped up NC Miata has multiple improvements, the ideas gleaned from a similar thread at miata.net, and the little tips gained over the years now seem essential. Obviously technical specifics should be posted in the appropriate forum however a general digest of daily tinkering or even that awesome ride you took today may inspire someone to expand their R nineT envelope.

So, today I installed the Ohlins Steering Damper. It almost seems like it's upside down but thats what the instructions show. Next was surveying the available real estate in the frame behind the steering head for the small Stebel Nautilus tooter that arrived today. Tight fit indeed if this is going to work. And finally, I stared at the bike for a long time as usual, with most of the constructive thoughts towards the next generation of my tail tidy (thanks again Marc Australia).

Hopefully tomorrow I can post that I took Li'l B for a long, long ride instead of just dinking with the bike.

Put some sail boat fuel in the tires.

Removed sub frame and installed Oberon bar end mirrors.

Drank some beer while doing it so can’t ride.
Instead I’m now researching exhausts to swap out the stock one.

Burned off all the winter gas, took me 318 kms on main and another 20 kms after the red-light started flashing and the count down [or count up] started.

I always just empty almost the entire tank with a siphon.. then put that winter gas in the car. Ride to the nearest petrol station and fill it up with new fuel.

Ian, how well do they hold up? How much time do you have on that one - they are really sharp looking, nice.

I'd say they hold up pretty well.
I got mine done in Dec 2019 and the only noticeable slight signs of wear are on the edge where the alcantara trim meets the leather trim.
(I've done maybe 8000 miles since then)
Also - you can see the threads are silver and blue in the photo above - those threads just all looks whiteish now.

What mirrors do you have? They look much nicer than my Oberons…

lovely seat, I’ll give them a call.
Thank you, the mirrors are the Option 719 ones, they came as part of the 719 pack when I ordered the bike.
Matt works on his own, he’s in a unit inside an old industrial building. Interesting place if you visit in person.

Installed the hornig rear mud guard, or "fender" as I like to call it. It's too early to tell if it will help with water/mud splatter on the back side of bike and rider, but I really like the way it looks. I am a bit concerned, though, as the list of supported R9T models includes everything but the UGS. I bought it on the assumption that the mounting points must be the same, and they are, but it came with a note that it's not suitable for off road use. Still, I figured that I don't do any serious off roading, just dirt roads from time to time, so if it's good enough for a scrambler it must be good enough for my UGS, right? I'd like to figure out a way to remove the diving board, while keeping the luggage rack, but that means moving the blinkers and license plate. Maybe next winter.

I take it that any of the standard aftermarket tail tidies, eg Evotech and R and G would prevent the use of the luggage rack?

I think that's right. I think they get installed in place of the rear seat, whereas I have the BMW UGS solo seat with luggage rack in place of the rear seat. But I haven't really looked into it yet. Definitely can't have that cowling thing.

Ric, I really like the look of that fender but I can't find it on their site. Do you have a pary number or source?

What a stunning looking bike.
Mounted an onboard socket this evening. Ideal for using an Optimate 4.
My RT came with one, but the RnineT only had a USB connector.
