What did you do to your R nineT today?

I know it's a cornball topic however this type of thread has been very entertaining and extremely informative on other forums. Our souped up NC Miata has multiple improvements, the ideas gleaned from a similar thread at miata.net, and the little tips gained over the years now seem essential. Obviously technical specifics should be posted in the appropriate forum however a general digest of daily tinkering or even that awesome ride you took today may inspire someone to expand their R nineT envelope.

So, today I installed the Ohlins Steering Damper. It almost seems like it's upside down but thats what the instructions show. Next was surveying the available real estate in the frame behind the steering head for the small Stebel Nautilus tooter that arrived today. Tight fit indeed if this is going to work. And finally, I stared at the bike for a long time as usual, with most of the constructive thoughts towards the next generation of my tail tidy (thanks again Marc Australia).

Hopefully tomorrow I can post that I took Li'l B for a long, long ride instead of just dinking with the bike.

I ordered the Ohlins rear shock absorber, it arrived the day before I left the UK for 3 weeks so it was something to look forward to after whizzing around Thailand on much smaller cc bikes and scooters. 1st day back with jet lag I couldn't resist putting it on.
I've set it so it's around 20mm higher (middle of the seat) + I have the higher seat. Being a heavy guy 108kg and riding with a pillion and luggage often, I can't believe how much better the ride is going in and out the corners in particular. Looking forward to doing the front end.

You can just about see the seats higher in the bottom pic. And the sag is significantly less with it being suitable for my weight.

Definitely will be going to Thailand again for a longer adventure on a bigger bike 👌

Phuket! Nice! I heard good things about Chang Mai region from my friend who rented "normal" bike there.

Rode in Pattaya, Koh Samui, Phangan & Lanta this time. Also went to phi phi, Krabi & Railay.
Next time I want to ride Phuket to Chang Mai. Not sure if it would be better to buy a motorcycle & sell it when I leave

First service done and dusted, could have blown my socks off with the price, was expecting $600 from what I have been told by others, $150 all up. Over the mountain to come home and see how much tyre I could use, got my moneys worth. Queensland, Australia.

What, you paid for the 1st service 😲 ? Poor dealer, should have been free with the purchase of a new bike. Especially as they delivered a wrong one at first.

Wait for the next service ...

I had my first race track day with my Rnine yesterday. The Norwegian BMW club invited to a rust picker driving course with basic brake, sudden evasive maneuvers and race track driving. To experience how much you actually can lean your bike and how much you can do with small body (head) movement and your sight placing was a huge eye opener and fun experience.

Worth doing as the splines were totally dry after 8000 miles. Get a multi pack of aluminium sealing washers, much easier than buying individual sizes. Engine oil next but the filter didn't come in time.

Spark plug change on the Urbain .

I've noticed a few videos where people lubricate threads of the spark plug although it is not recommended. Don't do it. It can throw off the torque value by 20%.

Plated plugs won't seize so no copper grease needed and will affect rotational resistance

Rode it! Did ~110mi with our beloved nineTs’ namesake, a 1974 R90. It was a beautiful day to ride, much cooler than recent Florida weather. The Akra headers (which I haven’t reported on yet) are wearing in nicely with some unreal coloring coming in. Twalcom throttle pulley is a pleasure to ride with and my recently added Road 6s feel phenomenal.

I washed my R9T Pure yesterday afternoon. Finally. It's been a long time, and while I don't normally mind a dirty bike, it was getting pretty bad, even for me. I replaced the clear tape I use for a tank protector, cleaned off the residue from the last batch of tape, and used protectant on the seats. I even cleaned the wheels, which I sometimes just skip. I didn't exactly detail the entire bike, but it's still 100% better than it was. :)
Woke up Saturday to a 65° F low humity morning which is totally out of character for the Space Coast this time of year. Went for an hours ride and found my preforated jacket a little chilly to start off. Came home, had some breakfast and went back out again. Went through a tank, had lunch, refueled and called it a day. Spent the rest of the day preping and painting my new hugger - Thanks Ric V.
