We're all fans of the NineT. As I said before, ticks all the boxes for me. Out of sheer vanity, I would've liked to see 120-130HP... but let's be honest. 110-115 will be more than enough. And the torque, at 90lbs, will be ridiculous fun.

However, 2014 looks like an amazing year for bikes. I am 99% set on the Beemer but still curious to see the new Ducati Monster. From what I've heard:
- 1200 engine (same motor as Diavel or Multi)
- 145HP for the S version
- around 90 torque
- more upright position than previous incarnations
- 135HP base model and a 145HP S model (Ohlins etc) - 15K vs. 19K, Canadian pring

It'll have to be REALLY gorgeous to sway me from the Beemer... but still curious to see it.

Does anyone have any other "temptations" for next year?

The only thing that could change my mind is the (to?) low seat.

More power ? What would i do with that on normal streets ?
More protection ? No need, i like to feel i'm driving a bike. Keeps me awake.

With non faired bikes, whats it like at 70 mph on the highway? Will this be a bike that will be fun to take on the interstates? Im not talking about doing 600 miles of touring, but up to 100 miles on the highway doable? Im really loving the looks and specs for it.

Ha, 70 would be like sitting still... ;)))

Our normal cruising speed, in my cafe group is 85-90, with short bursts of... More ;)

You get used to it.

I try to avoid the highways (your interstates) as much as possible. Not necessarily for wind, more cuz I get bored out of my mind and tend to speed...

Our regular rides around here are 200 miles for quicker stuff, and we regularly go for 400 miles days on weekends. Longest I've done was maybe a 500-600 mile day.

But yeah 400 miles at 80-90 is the usual.

Here's some pics of my Thrux, for reference:

First picture is right around the midpoint of a 400 mile day in BC, second pic is in the middle of some of the best roads in the world, interior BC. Did about 350 miles that day.

Saw this tonight. '84 R100RS, riding a canyon road. Granted he's not knee dragging, but the bike has around 67-8 HP and seems to do just fine. I imagine for most of us, 120-130 HP would be a waste, unless it's used on a track, and track days are not my forte.

I know I'm going to sound a little blinkered but there is not a bike that I could think of that would change my mind as I've been waiting for BMW to produce a bike like this for a while.

I would love a bike like a concept 6 but not sure that it would be a little too heavy.

The nineT hits the nail smack on the head for me, I was a little concerned about just 110bhp but when I had my R1200RT it never felt underpowered or I never got left behind.

Looking forward to Motorcycle live (26th Nov) where I can see it in the metal.

That first picture is amazing, really makes you appreciate why we all ride (the mountain backdrop)

NineTadmin, Beautiful scenery, there.

Used to have an '09 T100 and 85-90 was crazy speeds for it. Wasn't a very stable bike at speed. I've heard the Thrux is much better. I know that my RT can cruise at 90 all day long stress free.

I imagine the NineT will too, with a small Dart style screen to break up the wind off the chest.

Haha, no I was speaking"American". That was MPH.

Our cruising speeds are 130-140 km/h, if the road "permits". So 80-90 MPH.
National Parks are iffy, as the speed limits are low, and you risk high fines.
In BC, if the limit is 90 km/h in National Parks, and they catch you doing over 120-130 (30-40 over), they impound your bike for a week...

70 MPH is about 100km/h... that is standing still. I'm almost doing that on my pedal road bike on downhills... :D

Since he's from Canada, that is probably in KPH, going 70MPH is not going to feel dead at all, anyone who says that is a serious speed junkie.
That's what i was thinking, but he was saying miles in regards to the distance of his trips....not kilometers. Based on his last post i'm thinking he's a speed junkie, like u said. Nothing wrong with that.

Haha, going over 100km/h makes me a speed junkie? :D
I don't know, i'm the wrong person to ask. I'm pretty new to riding a bike and 65 mph freaks me out. Maybe in time that will change, but for now i'm content on 55 mph country roads. You were talking going 80-90 mph in ur other post. That seems crazy to me, but who knows....talk to me again in a year after i spend a summer with the Nine T and maybe i'll have my own stories of hitting 90.

If i feel the need for speed, i hop in my mustang and go for a cruise. What i love so much about riding a motorcycle is that it's fun just going 35 or whatever. It's just me, the machine, and the road. I love the shifting through acceleration and downshifting when coming to stops. Just fun to take a leisurely cruise.

And to get back to the topic of the post, nothing would change my mind besides something ridiculous like a msrp of $20K or more. I've wanted a motorcycle for quite awhile and never saw a bike that peaked my interest the way this one does. Even that ducati monster (a bike that was always in my top 3) just doesn't come close (in my opinion) to the styling of this bike. Sure it might cost less and even offer a tad more performance. But one thing i guarantee, it won't command the road the way this thing does. This is a beautiful machine! The monster is cool, but things like the suzuki sfv650 make the design look generic. The BMW seems to be in a class of its own.

Ride, ride, ride. Nothing beats practice. Well, lessons and practice.
I bet you'll be grinning at 100 MPH after 3 months of owning the Beemer.

I couldn't agree more on the presence of this machine. I can't wait to see it in person.
It stirs up some emotions that the Monster just doesn't...
