First post - hopefully in right spot. I've looked around and cannot find why this model is called the R nine T?

It's strange to me but I'm sure there's good reason.

After 2 R1200R's, I think I've found my next bike. It certainly goes back to basics and I might miss some creature comforts but there's a time and place for most things.

Aesthetics will rule for a while.

Still mystified

I understand 'special edition', 'R', that it's 90 years but surely not 'nineT' to signify that.

There is of course the 90th anniversary R1200R. That's entirely understandable.

I can't believe they went to all that trouble to design such a classic and left it with such a lame model designation.

Don't get me wrong, I love the looks and have put a deposit down, will buy it and know I will love it (after two R1200R's back to back), but the name is just weird and awkward.

How is NINE T awkward
Great short name for a long awaited roadster
NINE T = 90years of BMW motorcycles (big celebrations)
NINE T produced for purists who enjoy BMW motorrad :D
I hope this fills a few blank thoughts :D
Enjoy your 9T when it arrives and you'll never forget its name as its imprinted on the air intake snorkel brushed alloy cover :D
