Do you think it's not surprising because -
a) the modern retro style of bike is suited to a more mature taste than sports bikes
b) young people, on average, are unlikely to spend the amount of coin these things cost
c) not too many young people on internet forums like this
I think it's mostly a & b. But I'd add...

d) most younger people buy more purpose-specific motorcycles. Supersports, power cruisers, and adventure bikes, plus dirt bikes for those who only off-road. The R9T, in my mind anyway, is a more well-rounded machine, making it a better all-arounder - at least with a few mods - for those of us who want to do more than one kind of riding on only one bike.

Well, I’m just 23. I just don’t like the modern, aggressive looking sport bikes. They don’t suit me well. I love the old scrambler, cafe racer, tracker type of bikes and yes in my opinion the R nineT is the most beautiful retro bike in the market right now. Sometimes my friends call me old fashioned but I tell them I don’t need your electronics, full fairings, or unnecessary bits and pieces; I just need my air cooled boxer twin and a pair of good tires to make myself happy.

Just curious. Incidentally i'm 37.

Cheers, Dom
I’m 49.
Bikes were pretty generic for most of the first couple decades of my life. Tank, seat, round headlight, etc. I find myself attracted to that kind of ‘analog’ experience in a world that’s gone ever more digital.

At this age, I’ve been there, done that with many kinds of riding. I now have complications of parenthood, career, etc. A less demanding bike that’s better suited to daily riding and doesn’t need to go 150 mph or 1000 miles in a day is exactly what I need right now.

BMWs are relatively expensive. That, generally, pushes the purchasing age up. BMWs also, of course, have a long standing reputation as an old man’s bike.

Younger riders... are, in general, an ever more rare breed. On any kind of bike.

29 yrs old on my R Nine T for 3 or 4 years now. Had a couple sports bikes before this and realized that raw performance is awesome but having a bike that is fun to ride at any speed is more important. Occasionally I do miss having a quickshifter/blipper and I really wish I had a fuel gauge but I love this bike.

Got a supersport for the track and speed needs, R9t is all I need for the road.

Congratulations Mr. Nut. Glad to see other slightly crazy riders. Glad to have you in the forum. If the seat on my bike were just a bit bigger I’d probably sleep on it. As a younger man, there was a time when I was so broke I rented a room in a flop house and the neighborhood was so bad I rode the bike up the steps and into the house each night and slept under it because if I left it outside it wouldn’t be there the next day.... I love my Motos. Welcome to a large group of MotoManiacs, you’ll fit in nicely my friend ......Blitz
