Optimate 4 charger vs. BMW Motorrad Battery Charger

Hi BaldyDave.
Optimate 4 is tried, tested and frequently recommended on this forum, so that more than anything else would make me buy Optimate. I've had an Optimate 4 canbus edition for 4 years now and it's kept my 9T's battery in good nick and plugs into the accessory socket without fuss.

No idea about the BMW charger, but I'm going to guess it'll be more expensive and probably not offer more than the Optimate does...
I have just swapped my Optimate 4 for a Canbus version. When I have it in the non canbus mode and connect it straight to the battery it alternates between the top right led being solid and then flashing which sounds OK to me. When I run it in canbus mode and plug it into the socket on the bike it behaves the same BUT when the green led is solid it also flashes the yellow 0.2A led. It has been doing this for a couple of days now. Does this sound right please?

I emailed Optimate about this and got a quick answer back. The charger sends this pulse to keep the Canbus system from shutting down.
