Rapid Bike Smart tuning

They are indeed still selling them and there are two sides to every story! I bought one for my 2023 Pure on the recommendation of PCC, fitted it myself after changing out the headers, exhaust for a low mount G & G, ditching the catalytic converter and flapper delete. It is advertised as plug and play with the ability to manually adjust if you want to. I haven’t messed with mine but it does what it says on the box. Messing with anything may void warranty, why if it was faulty didn’t you simply send it back for a replacement? If I turn mine off the bike loses mid range torque and over-fuels to the extent the unburnt fuel will ignite in the exhaust causing it to pop on throttle shutdown. Sweet as anything with it turned on.

“It directly controls lambda sensor signal prompting the stock ECU to adopt a richer carburetion. Power delivery is considerably smoother, with improved throttle response whilst securing substantial benefits for the engine's overall performance.”

My fast idle is still there and annoying as ever, the only way I believe you can get rid of it is with a Bren Tune from BT Moto and that will cost you $899 before any forum discount or get PCC to tune it for you. Pick up the phone and get details from them. Either way it’ll cost you a lot more than your Bike Smart ever did.

The adjustments are there for people who may need them and understand how to do them not for tweaking at will. My mantra is if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. My brother in law wrecked his 2 year old Triumph engine by tweaking unnecessarily thinking he was a tuning aficionado.

Hi CosmicBlue, I never expected any improvement with the 15-20 second cold start fast idle when I fitted it. It is simply a piggy back device that monitors signals from the ECU and lambda sensors and then lies in return to the ECU to increase AFR. It does not change the fundamental map from my understanding just the mixture. I am of course prepared to learn and be corrected if I am wrong? Mine does run a lot better than it did with the OEM exhaust and certainly does with the current exhaust setup in comparison to it being turned off by cycling the throttle. There are undoubtedly much better ways to improve performance but the prospect at the time of having to remove my ECU and sending it away to get a map was not an option I was prepared to take and funds were limited after the obscene amount I spent on it on the ‘Latest Must Haves’ that ‘I Didn’t Necessarily Need!’ ;)

Had a little digging about and whilst instructions are scarce on how to get the best out of manually adjusting the settings, there is a facility where you can have a free consultation with their technical team.

Also there is a capability whereupon the Rapid Bike Smart can be tuned remotely by someone that knows what they are doing. I have no idea in the UK if your supplier has the ability to do this. In the USA they can, if they have the time! Below is a cut and paste.

“A: Option A is to take your bike to a competent shop and if the shop is not familiar with Rapid Bike, have them give us a call. ( please do not call us and ask us to call your shop ) . Option B is, we can remote in using the "Team Viewer" software to take a look at your settings. Please keep in mind, this is a complimentary service and we will only do it when and if it is convenient for us and as well as it is for you too.”

As stated it is advertised as plug and play as it has a learning/adaption facility. I have had no reason to manually adjust anything.

Don’t fit it! The Smart Module as stated will not change the fast idle if that is what you expect!

My answer was to the immediate preceding post made by DickyGray sorry for not making it clear!
