I purchased this hard wire connection for my garmin gps

Garmin USB Power Cable

I am not sure if I should run it all the way to battery (will it stay on and drain battery ???) or should I connect it to the plug under the tank. Not sure which plug is it and do I have to take the tank of to complete.

It's mentioned in another thread (GPS?) but accessible from the left under a zip tie. For the Nav V you just take off the cap and install it. No tank removal necessary at all. Easy to do and works without any intervention (ie programming).

The wire that I got has no plug, just a black and red wire. I am assuming that I have to cut and splice the factory plug and hard wire the new gps cable?

The wire I received comes with a inline fuse, and a red and black wire.
The oem plug has a brown and red/white wires. How would those connect and can I take out the fuse since its at the end of a long wire.

no fuse needed, wiring is correct.
