See Piccy for connector that is located near the left side of headstock, it’s taped up but no need to remove fuel tank.
You can use this 12v feed to power up anything up to 5amps & goes on/off with the ignition with a 60 second delay (powers down after 60 seconds after ignition KEY is turned off)

And is there a connector somewhere suitable for (3rd party) heated grips?

Hi, no connector suitable, I would run a small relay with pin 30 direct to battery via a 15amp fuse & pin 15 connected to the canbus controlled Aux outlet live wire so that grips go off with ignition, you can run a couple of accessories from same relay if you want heated jacket etc..

Is the BMW GPS plug for the power available elsewhere? I have a new TomTom Rider 450 to mate with my beloved...

Hi, the cheapest way is to buy the correct white plug (with yellow cables) & fit the Tom Tom connector direct to yellow tails unless it’s already got the matching plug to connect directly to the bike loom

not too hard to wire these up..
